DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - In response to rising concerns over youth crime and the growing threat of drug abuse, the Interfaith Youth Forum (Forum Pemuda Lintas Agama/FPLA) of Deli Serdang Regency has strengthened cross-religious cooperation. The initiative aims to enhance public safety, social harmony, and the protection of young people.
The forum organized a dialogue titled "Concrete Measures of Interfaith Youth in Maintaining Regional Stability and Preventing Youth Crime and Drug Threats" at Uncle Sam's Hall in Lubuk Pakam on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

First Assistant for Government and Welfare of Deli Serdang Regency, Zainal Abidin Hutagalung, representing Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan, emphasized the crucial role of young people in addressing social challenges. He stressed that youth must move beyond being passive observers and take active roles in society.
"There must be more than symbolic discussions. We need real movements that are felt in society, especially in preventing juvenile delinquency and drug abuse," he said.
He added that the regional government continues to provide space for youth programs with positive impact, noting that the quality of today's youth will determine the region's future.

Zainal Abidin also highlighted that youth with strong moral values, social awareness, and tolerance are essential in building a religious, prosperous, educated, and sustainable Deli Serdang. He urged young people to serve as role models of unity in a diverse society.
BNNK Warns of Widespread Drug Threat
Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNNK) Deli Serdang, Kombes Pol Josua Tampubolon, warned that drugs now threaten all segments of society regardless of age or background. He stressed that prevention efforts cannot rely solely on law enforcement.
He also emphasized the strategic role of interfaith youth in educating students and young people about the dangers of drugs.

"We hope the Interfaith Youth Forum can become a strategic partner in delivering anti-drug messages and raising awareness for the future of the younger generation," he stated.
He further encouraged youth to strengthen their faith, choose their social environment wisely, and avoid negative influences.
The event was attended by several key figures, including MUI Deli Serdang Chairman Kaya Hasibuan, Head of the Religious Affairs Ministry Saripuddin Daulay, Head of Kesbangpol Kurna Boloni Sinaga SSTP, FPLA mentors Janso Sipahutar and Edwin Nasution, Youth Forum Chairman Zulfahmi Hasibuan, as well as students, teachers, and youth representatives.
