LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police continue their firm efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking and narcotics abuse. Following a public report submitted through the Police Call Center 110, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kotapinang Police conducted a raid targeting a suspected drug den (Grebek Sarang Narkoba/GSN) on Monday afternoon, July 27, 2026, in Sisumut Village, Kotapinang District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
The operation was part of the enhanced routine police activities (Kegiatan Rutin yang Ditingkatkan/KRYD) carried out by the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police. The operation aims to limit the activities of individuals suspected of abusing or distributing illegal narcotics.The swift response by the Kotapinang Police demonstrates the authorities' commitment to responding to reports from residents. Cooperation between the community and law enforcement remains a crucial factor in preventing the spread of drug abuse, which continues to raise concerns among the public.
The raid was initiated after residents submitted information through the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Call Center 110. The report contained allegations of drug abuse activities involving a group of individuals in the area, including a man suspected of distributing methamphetamine in Sisumut Village.
After receiving the report, Kotapinang Police Chief AKP Maruli Tua Siregar, S.H., M.H., coordinated further action with Criminal Investigation Unit Head Ipda Safaruddin.Ipda Safaruddin stated that the search was conducted following instructions from the Kotapinang Police Chief to immediately verify reports from residents regarding suspected drug-related activities.
At approximately 4:00 p.m. local time, the Criminal Investigation Unit team, accompanied by on-duty police personnel, moved to the reported location. The operation also involved Sisumut Village representative Bustami Harahap as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the police and local authorities.Upon arrival at the location, officers found several people gathered in the area. However, after noticing the arrival of police personnel, several individuals fled and could not be apprehended.
Despite this, the Kotapinang Police continued the operation by conducting a thorough search of the area, which was suspected of being used as a location for drug abuse activities.
During the search, officers did not find any of the individuals suspected of being involved. However, police discovered several items believed to be potentially linked to narcotics abuse.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Kotapinang Police, Ipda Safaruddin, explained that the suspected evidence was found in the yard of a resident's house, specifically near an oil palm tree."When we arrived at the location, several people fled. The team then conducted a search and only found evidence in the yard of a resident, precisely near an oil palm tree. The items are suspected to be related to narcotics use. The evidence was subsequently taken to the police station," Ipda Safaruddin said.
Following the seizure, all items were secured and brought to the Kotapinang Police Station for further examination. Police are also continuing investigations to identify individuals who may be connected to the suspected drug activities.Investigators are still reviewing information provided by residents along with findings from the field investigation. These steps are aimed at uncovering the identities of those who fled during the operation.
He said the police action has given residents greater confidence in creating a safer environment free from the dangers of narcotics abuse.
He also expressed hope that efforts to combat drug crimes would continue consistently, limiting the space for users and distributors of illegal narcotics.The implementation of KRYD activities through the Grebek Sarang Narkoba (GSN) program is one of the strategies of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police in maintaining security and public order. In addition to taking action against suspected drug locations, the operation is also intended to strengthen public trust so residents feel comfortable providing information to law enforcement.
The Kotapinang Police emphasized that combating drug crimes requires the involvement of all elements of society.
