Pangdam IM Reviews Yonif 115/Macan Leuser Readiness for RI-PNG Border Security Mission

ACEH SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Commander of the Iskandar Muda Military Command (Pangdam IM), Major General TNI Joko Hadi Susilo, S.I.P., conducted an Operational Readiness Inspection (Riksiap Ops) for soldiers of the Infantry Battalion (Yonif) 115/Macan Leuser on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The inspection was carried out ahead of the battalion's deployment as a stationary Task Force responsible for securing the border area between the Republic of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea (RI-PNG) in Papua Province.

The visit by Pangdam IM and his delegation took place at the Yonif 115/Macan Leuser Headquarters in South Aceh. Major General TNI Joko Hadi Susilo was welcomed by Commander of Yonif 115/ML, Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Munggi Yudha Mahuli, along with staff officers and all personnel of the Macan Leuser unit.

The Riksiap Ops activity conducted by the Iskandar Muda Military Command aimed to ensure the overall preparedness of the unit before carrying out the border security mission. The inspection covered personnel readiness, equipment, administration, logistics, medical support, communication systems, and other supporting components required for mission execution.

Ensuring Full Preparedness Before Deployment

In his address, Pangdam IM Major General TNI Joko Hadi Susilo, S.I.P., stated that the operational readiness inspection is a crucial stage that must be conducted before a military unit is deployed to an operational area.

"An operational readiness inspection is a very important phase before a unit is deployed to an operational area. This activity aims to ensure that all soldiers, equipment, administration, logistics, health services, communication systems, and other supporting elements are optimally prepared so that the mission can be carried out safely, orderly, and successfully in accordance with the established objectives," he said.

Pangdam IM explained that the assignment as a stationary Task Force for securing the RI-PNG border in Papua Province is a state mandate that must be carried out with full responsibility, discipline, loyalty, and professionalism.

According to him, the Task Force not only plays a role in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), but also carries responsibility for creating security for communities, supporting local governments, and strengthening the relationship between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the people.

Soldiers Must Understand Papua's Characteristics

Major General TNI Joko Hadi Susilo emphasized that the security situation in Papua continues to require a high level of vigilance from every deployed soldier.

The Pangdam instructed all personnel to understand the characteristics of the operational area, identify potential threats, and respond quickly, accurately, and appropriately in accordance with applicable regulations.

"Strictly follow the rules of engagement. Prioritize a persuasive and humane approach while remaining firm in maintaining state sovereignty," Pangdam IM said.

In addition to operational capabilities, the Pangdam reminded soldiers to maintain the positive image of the Indonesian Army and the Iskandar Muda Military Command while carrying out their duties among the local population.

He called on all personnel to establish good communication with communities, traditional leaders, religious figures, government authorities, and all social elements in the operational area.

"Become soldiers who are loved by the people by being polite, disciplined, and attentive to the difficulties faced by communities in the operational area," Pangdam IM stated.

Discipline and TNI-People Partnership as Mission Foundations

On the occasion, Pangdam IM also instructed the inspection team to conduct evaluations objectively, carefully, and comprehensively.

He urged that all deficiencies identified during the inspection be immediately addressed to prevent obstacles that could affect mission implementation.

"To the responsible inspectors: conduct this activity objectively, carefully, and comprehensively. Ensure there are no shortcomings that could hinder operations in the mission area. Every finding must be addressed immediately so that the overall operational readiness before departure truly reaches an optimal condition," Pangdam IM said.

Before concluding his remarks, Pangdam IM delivered several important directives to all soldiers of the Yonif 115/Macan Leuser stationary RI-PNG Border Security Task Force.

He instructed the personnel to carry out all mission preparations carefully, accurately, and objectively. Furthermore, all members of the unit must properly complete centralized pre-deployment training to improve technical, tactical, and physical capabilities required for mission demands.

Pangdam IM also emphasized the importance of ensuring that all soldiers and equipment remain in fully operational condition. At the same time, discipline, loyalty, and moral integrity must be maintained throughout every assignment.

All soldiers were reminded to continue upholding the principles of Sapta Marga, the Soldier's Oath, and the Eight Obligations of TNI as the foundation for carrying out state duties. They were also instructed to continue strengthening and maintaining the close relationship between the TNI and the people, as this remains a key factor in mission success.

Major General TNI Joko Hadi Susilo expressed his hope that the Yonif 115/Macan Leuser stationary RI-PNG Border Security Task Force would carry out its mission safely, smoothly, and successfully. He also hoped that all soldiers would return safely to their unit while delivering achievements worthy of pride and recognition.

The event was also attended by Asrendam Iskandar Muda, assistants to Kasdam Iskandar Muda, heads of Iskandar Muda Military Command institutions, Danrem 012/TU, Dandim 0107/Aceh Selatan, as well as all soldiers assigned to the Yonif 115/Macan Leuser stationary RI-PNG Border Security Task Force.
