LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Efforts to eradicate illegal drug distribution continue to be intensified by the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police. This time, personnel from the Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) successfully uncovered an alleged methamphetamine (sabu) distribution activity in the Kotapinang area and arrested a 25-year-old man identified by the initials DH, also known as Dedi.
Police seized six packets containing suspected methamphetamine from the suspect, with a total gross weight of 6.86 grams. In addition to the illegal drugs, officers also secured Rp800,000 in cash, which is believed to have originated from drug transactions, along with several items allegedly used for packaging sabu.The case highlights the firm commitment of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police in combating drug trafficking, which continues to pose a serious threat to society. Public participation through the reporting of suspicious activities has also played an important role in helping authorities uncover similar cases.
The arrest of DH alias Dedi took place on Friday, July 24, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m. local time in Lingkungan Labuhan Baru, Kotapinang Urban Village, Kotapinang District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
Prior to the arrest, the Satresnarkoba team of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police received information from residents regarding suspicious activities allegedly linked to drug distribution in the area. Police then conducted an investigation and identified suspected narcotics activity involving the suspect.During the operation, officers also detained another man identified by the initials DAN alias Darman, aged 38, who was found near the location. Darman was taken to the police station for further examination to determine whether he had any connection to the case.
During a search of the suspect's house, investigators discovered six packets of sabu hidden inside a room. Officers also confiscated empty plastic clips, a shovel-shaped pipette believed to have been used for taking and packaging sabu, as well as a small wallet.The Chief of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through the Head of Public Relations of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, AKP Sujono, stated on Saturday, July 25, 2026, that the case was uncovered based on information provided by members of the public. Residents had previously expressed concerns about suspected drug activities in Lingkungan Labuhan Baru.
"We immediately followed up on the information from the community. The Satresnarkoba team of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police went to the location and secured a man who was allegedly involved in a narcotics transaction. During a search of DH alias Dedi's house, several packets of sabu were found hidden in a room," AKP Sujono explained.
During the initial questioning, DH alias Dedi admitted that the sabu packets found by officers belonged to him. The suspect also stated that he obtained the drugs from an individual identified as WENG, who is allegedly located in the Labuhan area.
This statement was immediately used as the basis for further investigation to uncover a wider network of possible suppliers. However, police are still searching for the person named by the suspect."The team has launched further investigations to locate the supplier mentioned by DH alias Dedi. Until now, the individual has not been found and remains on the police wanted list," AKP Sujono said.
The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police confirmed that the investigation will continue. Investigators are currently completing the case file through witness interviews, forensic examination of evidence, and tracing possible involvement of other parties in the drug distribution network.
The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police emphasized that efforts to combat drug trafficking do not end with the arrest of individual offenders. Authorities will continue pursuing drug networks and attempt to break illegal narcotics supply chains up to the masterminds behind them.
AKP Sujono appreciated the active role of residents who have shown courage in reporting suspected drug abuse and drug trafficking activities in their surroundings."We appreciate the active participation of the community, who do not hesitate to report suspicious activities related to drugs. Such cooperation is crucial to limiting the space for offenders. The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police will not provide any opportunity for drug dealers because these crimes threaten the future of the younger generation," he emphasized.
Currently, DH alias Dedi and all confiscated evidence have been secured at the Satresnarkoba Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police for further legal proceedings.Police continue to appeal to residents to actively provide information whenever they discover indications of drug abuse or illegal narcotics distribution.
Through cooperation between law enforcement authorities and the community, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police hopes that Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency will become increasingly free from the threat of drugs and that a safer and healthier environment can be created for future generations.
