DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – Police in Tanjung Morawa, in coordination with the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut), have uncovered an alleged illegal cannabis cultivation operation in Deli Serdang Regency. A 43-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, May 17, 2026, on suspicion of cultivating and distributing marijuana.
The operation began after residents reported suspicious drug-related activity in Gang Amal, Dusun I, Dalu X A Village. Acting on the information, Tanjung Morawa Police Chief AKP Jonni H. Damanik and Investigation Head Iptu Hotman Harus immediately deployed officers to the location.At the scene, officers apprehended a man identified by the initials ZFA (43), a local resident. He was found inside a small hut suspected of being used as a drug distribution point. A search of the premises uncovered 38 packaged cannabis units believed to be prepared for sale.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to maintaining a separate illegal cultivation site not far from the arrest location. Police followed the lead and discovered a concealed cannabis plantation in the surrounding area.
Read Also:Officers seized a total of 40 cannabis plants, each measuring approximately 2 to 2.5 meters in height. All plants were uprooted on-site and secured as evidence.
