DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – Police in Tanjung Morawa, in coordination with the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut), have uncovered an alleged illegal cannabis cultivation operation in Deli Serdang Regency. A 43-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, May 17, 2026, on suspicion of cultivating and distributing marijuana.
The operation began after residents reported suspicious drug-related activity in Gang Amal, Dusun I, Dalu X A Village. Acting on the information, Tanjung Morawa Police Chief AKP Jonni H. Damanik and Investigation Head Iptu Hotman Harus immediately deployed officers to the location.At the scene, officers apprehended a man identified by the initials ZFA (43), a local resident. He was found inside a small hut suspected of being used as a drug distribution point. A search of the premises uncovered 38 packaged cannabis units believed to be prepared for sale.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to maintaining a separate illegal cultivation site not far from the arrest location. Police followed the lead and discovered a concealed cannabis plantation in the surrounding area.

"This action reflects our commitment to aggressively combat drug offenses, especially those involving cultivation and distribution," he stated on Monday, May 18, 2026.
He also urged the public to promptly report any suspicious drug-related activities to law enforcement.The suspect, along with all seized evidence, has been handed over to the Deli Serdang Narcotics Unit for further legal proceedings. (IDNC)
