JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - Jambi Police Chief Inspector General of Police (Irjen Pol.) Krisno H. Siregar attended the opening ceremony of the 19th National Assembly of the Student Executive Councils of Indonesia (Munas BEM SI) 2026. The event was held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Auditorium of the University of Jambi.
The Munas BEM SI XIX 2026 was attended by around 150 participants representing delegates from various Student Executive Councils (BEM) of universities across Indonesia. Several distinguished guests were also present, including the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. (H.C.) H. Erick Thohir, Jambi Governor Dr. H. Al Haris, Rector of the University of Jambi Prof. Dr. Helmi, Director of Intelligence and Security of the Jambi Police Kombes Pol. Yuli Haryudo, academics, and members of the BEM SI leadership.The opening ceremony of Munas BEM SI XIX began with the recitation of holy verses from the Quran, a joint prayer, the singing of Indonesia's national anthem "Indonesia Raya," the University of Jambi anthem, and the student march. The event continued with a report from the organizing committee and speeches from several invited figures.
The President of the Student Executive Council of the University of Jambi, Rahmat Zaki, expressed his appreciation to all invited guests and participants who attended the national event. He hoped that Munas BEM SI XIX would become a forum where students could develop ideas and produce concrete solutions that benefit society.
According to him, the national student forum was not merely a space for exchanging perspectives but also an opportunity for students to present ideas and approaches capable of addressing various social challenges, particularly those affecting vulnerable communities and groups requiring special attention.Meanwhile, Rector of the University of Jambi Prof. Dr. Helmi encouraged all student organizations to continue developing themselves and play an active role in national development. He emphasized that student contributions must continue to be based on the values of Pancasila as the foundation of national life and the state.
Prof. Helmi expressed hope that Munas BEM SI XIX would produce strategic decisions and innovative ideas that could support Indonesia's progress.
The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Erick Thohir, emphasized the important role of young people in determining the future direction of the nation. He stated that the current generation carries a major responsibility in shaping Indonesia's future over the next century.
"A great nation is a nation that knows its history. Young people play an important role in Indonesia's history. Therefore, I hope the younger generation will continue to maintain the spirit of nationalism, produce positive ideas, and actively participate in building Indonesia," Erick Thohir said.Erick explained that students hold a strategic position as a young intellectual group that can contribute to overcoming various national challenges through ideas, innovation, and social involvement.
Through Munas BEM SI XIX, he hoped students would strengthen the spirit of unity, encourage healthy dialogue, and develop ideas that support Indonesia's advancement.

He added that the Jambi Police is committed to maintaining security and public order so that all community activities, including academic and student events, can take place safely and orderly."We call on all participants and student groups to jointly maintain security and order, express their aspirations respectfully and in accordance with applicable regulations, and view differences of opinion as a strength in building a more advanced Indonesia," he concluded.
The implementation of Munas BEM SI XIX 2026 at the University of Jambi serves as an important forum for students from various universities across Indonesia to strengthen cooperation, exchange ideas, and build collective commitment to making positive contributions to society and national development.
