LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The South Labuhanbatu Regency Government (Labusel) continues to strengthen its commitment to creating a healthy, high-achieving young generation that is free from narcotics abuse through the development of the sports sector. This commitment was demonstrated when Deputy Regent of South Labuhanbatu Syahdian Purba Siboro, accompanied by Regional Secretary M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, attended the Baku Tumbuk Volume II event held at the Santun Berkata Bijak Berkarya (SBBK) Hall, Kotapinang, on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
The championship, which featured boxing and kick striking competitions, was not only a stage for young athletes to demonstrate their abilities but also became an important opportunity to identify and develop sporting talents expected to bring pride to South Labuhanbatu Regency at provincial, national, and international levels.According to him, sporting events such as Baku Tumbuk Volume II do not merely produce athletes with competitive skills but also instill valuable life principles, including sportsmanship, discipline, responsibility, perseverance, hard work, and the determination to never give up.
"Through this activity, we hope to produce potential athletes who can bring the name of South Labuhanbatu to the provincial and national stages. The South Labuhanbatu Regency Government will continue to support positive activities that guide the younger generation toward achievement and away from the dangers of narcotics," said M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution.He explained that sports development is not only about winning competitions or collecting medals but also represents a long-term investment in building superior human resources with strong character and competitiveness.
Deputy Regent of South Labuhanbatu Syahdian Purba Siboro also expressed his appreciation for the implementation of Baku Tumbuk Volume II. He hoped the event could become a sustainable sports development program capable of producing strong athletes who are ready to compete at various levels.According to Syahdian, martial arts do not only teach fighting techniques but also provide character education through discipline, confidence, courage, self-control, and the commitment to uphold sportsmanship.
"The South Labuhanbatu Regency Government will continue to support positive activities like this. Hopefully, Baku Tumbuk Volume II can produce outstanding athletes who bring pride to the region while inspiring other young people to stay away from drugs and spend their time on beneficial activities," Syahdian said.
The implementation of Baku Tumbuk Volume II is part of the South Labuhanbatu Regency Government's efforts to establish a competitive and sustainable sports ecosystem. Chairman of the Baku Tumbuk Volume II organizing committee, Wahyu Ihsan Siregar, expressed his appreciation to the South Labuhanbatu Regency Government for the support provided, allowing the event to be successfully conducted.He explained that participants came from various regions and competed in boxing and kick striking categories. Beyond presenting competitive matches, the championship also served as a platform for nurturing and developing young athletes.
According to Wahyu, the competition is expected to produce talented boxers and kick striking athletes who can elevate the reputation of South Labuhanbatu in the future.The martial arts event also represented a strategic effort in addressing modern youth challenges. Through sports, young people are provided with a positive environment to develop their abilities while avoiding negative influences, including narcotics abuse.
Both confirmed that the cancellation was not caused by any dispute or unwillingness from either side to compete. They explained that unavoidable circumstances occurred, forcing the match to be cancelled.
