Forensic Lab Confirms Broken Window at Deli Serdang Deputy Regent’s Official Residence Was Not Caused by Gunfire

DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government has welcomed the findings of the Deli Serdang Police investigation and the examination conducted by the North Sumatra Police Forensic Laboratory regarding the broken window incident at the bedroom of the Deputy Regent of Deli Serdang's official residence in June 2026.

The investigation concluded that the damaged window was not caused by a gunshot or a projectile fired from a firearm. The North Sumatra Police Forensic Laboratory team found no impact marks from bullets or traces indicating the use of a firearm in the incident.

Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan appreciated the work carried out by the Deli Serdang Police and the North Sumatra Police Forensic Laboratory, which conducted an objective investigation and provided clarity through scientific evidence.

"On behalf of the Deli Serdang Government, we express our appreciation to the police for their thorough work and for presenting the investigation results based on scientific evidence. We hope that the existing cooperation will continue to be maintained in order to ensure a safe and stable situation in Deli Serdang," he stated.

Investigation Conducted Through Crime Scene Analysis and Forensic Examination

Deli Serdang Police Chief Kombes Pol Hendria Lesmana explained that his office received a report regarding the incident on June 16, 2026. Following the report, police immediately carried out several investigative procedures, including crime scene processing, witness interviews, and forensic examinations.

Based on all examinations conducted, police concluded that the damage to the window at the official residence of the Deputy Regent of Deli Serdang was not caused by a firearm projectile.

The conclusion was further confirmed by the examination results of the North Sumatra Police Forensic Laboratory. Head of the Sub-Division of the North Sumatra Police Forensic Laboratory, AKBP Roy Siburian, stated that the forensic team found no characteristics on the damaged area that indicated a bullet impact.

Furthermore, the examination found no residue suggesting that a firearm had been used during the incident.

"We also examined possible traces caused by projectile friction using chemical testing methods. The results were negative. Based on all investigation findings, it can be concluded that the broken window was not caused by a projectile," AKBP Roy Siburian said.

Based on the crime scene examination results and witness statements, the investigation team believes the window may have been damaged by a small stone impact. The stone could have been thrown when workers carried out garden cleaning activities using a lawn mower the day before the incident.

Deli Serdang Government Appreciates Investigation Transparency

Deputy Regent of Deli Serdang Lom Lom Suwondo also expressed his appreciation for the swift work of the police and the North Sumatra Police Forensic Laboratory team in uncovering the cause of the incident.

According to him, the scientific investigation has provided clarity for both the regional government and the public regarding an incident that had previously attracted public attention.

"These investigation results provide certainty for all of us. We thank the Deli Serdang Police and the North Sumatra Police Forensic Laboratory team, who worked with full dedication so that the existing facts could be clearly explained," he said.

Lom Lom further explained that the Deli Serdang Government, together with the Deli Serdang Police, would improve the security system within government areas. One of the planned measures is the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at several strategic locations.

The installation of surveillance cameras is part of efforts to strengthen monitoring and security, particularly at government facilities that are physically separated from residential areas.

The Deli Serdang Government hopes that improvements to the security system will create a safer working environment and support the delivery of public services.

"We hope this measure will improve monitoring while also increasing the sense of security," Lom Lom concluded.

With the results of the North Sumatra Police Forensic Laboratory examination, the Deli Serdang Government confirms that the broken window incident at the Deputy Regent's official residence was not related to a shooting or the use of firearms.

The regional government also calls on all parties to continue working together in maintaining public security and order so that Deli Serdang remains safe, comfortable, and stable. (IDNC)
