Aceh Deputy Governor Meets Social Affairs Minister: Focus on PBI JK, Disaster Response, and “Sekolah Rakyat”

MEETING WITH THE SOCIAL AFFAIRS MINISTER: Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah met Indonesia’s Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf in Jakarta to discuss social welfare programs.

JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah paid a courtesy and working visit to Indonesia's Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf, in Jakarta on Wednesday (May 20, 2026) at 5:00 p.m. WIB. The meeting addressed key strategic issues aimed at strengthening social welfare programs in Aceh Province.

The meeting, also attended by the Head of the Aceh Social Affairs Office, Budi Afrizal, highlighted several priority proposals from the Aceh provincial government to the Ministry of Social Affairs. A central discussion point was the enhancement of social protection for low-income communities.

Fadhlullah specifically requested an additional quota of 331,984 beneficiaries under the government-funded Health Insurance Contribution Assistance Program (PBI JK) for Aceh.

"We directly presented Aceh's need for additional PBI JK quotas to the Minister. This is a key priority for the provincial government to ensure that low-income communities continue to have access to proper healthcare services," Fadhlullah said after the meeting.

He emphasized that the Aceh government remains committed to expanding access to social security coverage, particularly for vulnerable and economically disadvantaged groups.

Accelerating Response to Hydrometeorological Disasters

Another key agenda item was the handling of recent hydrometeorological disasters that have affected several areas across Aceh. Fadhlullah stressed the importance of central government support to accelerate recovery and humanitarian response efforts.

"We also discussed the situation in several affected regions in Aceh and the need for support from the central government, particularly through the Ministry of Social Affairs, so that recovery and response efforts can be carried out optimally," he noted.

Expanding the "Sekolah Rakyat" Education Program

The Aceh provincial government also presented updates on the development of the "Sekolah Rakyat" program and requested additional support from the Ministry of Social Affairs. The initiative aims to broaden access to education and improve human resource quality, particularly for underprivileged communities.

Fadhlullah underlined that "Sekolah Rakyat" is a key part of Aceh's long-term development strategy, designed to expand educational participation and reduce social inequality.

He added that the meeting took place in a constructive and cooperative atmosphere, reflecting strengthened collaboration between the Aceh provincial government and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
