ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM – The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Aceh Tengah Police has successfully foiled the illegal transportation of 62 kilograms of cannabis (gross weight) in the Pegasing District area. Two suspected couriers linked to a cross-regional drug network were arrested during the operation.
The operation stemmed from public reports regarding suspicious activities related to drug trafficking in Aceh Tengah Regency. Acting on the information, officers launched a covert investigation and tracked the movements of the suspects.Police ultimately conducted a swift raid, arresting the two individuals in Simpang Kelaping Village, Pegasing District, between 8:00 p.m. and 8:05 p.m.

Read Also:The suspects were identified as MD (36) from Nisam Antara District, North Aceh Regency, and MI (29) from Sinjai Borong, Sinjai Regency. Both are believed to have acted as couriers responsible for transporting cannabis across different regions.
During the search, officers discovered dozens of kilograms of cannabis packaged in plastic bags. Authorities also seized a vehicle, mobile phones, and bags allegedly used to facilitate the illegal transport.

Aceh Tengah Police, Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, confirmed the seizure and the arrests.
"During this operation, we apprehended two individuals and secured 62 kilograms of cannabis as evidence," he said on Thursday, May 21, 2026.The suspects are currently being held at the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters along with the seized evidence for further investigation. Authorities are now focusing on uncovering the broader drug syndicate, including the origin and destination of the shipment.
