PREVENTING ILLEGAL STREET RACING: Aceh Tengah Police officers conduct joint patrols across key hotspots to prevent street racing and maintain public order in Takengon, Aceh Tengah.

ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM The Aceh Tengah Police (Polres Aceh Tengah) have intensified night patrols across several sensitive areas in the region as part of efforts to prevent illegal street racing and ensure public safety. The operation was carried out on the night of Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in various parts of Aceh Tengah Regency.

The strengthened patrols aim to protect resting residents during nighttime and early morning hours while preventing potential disturbances to public order before they escalate.

To support the initiative, joint personnel were deployed from the Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of Polres Aceh Tengah, the Public Order Unit (Sat Samapta), as well as officers from Polsek Bebesen, Polsek Kebayakan, and Polsek Lut Tawar. The operation was led by the on-duty officer, Ipda Muhammad Risky Pratama.

Prior to deployment, a briefing session was held at the police headquarters to outline patrol strategies and improve operational effectiveness in the field.

Targeting Known Illegal Racing Hotspots

Officers conducted inspections across several locations previously identified as gathering points for illegal street racing and public disturbances. These included the Kebet dual carriageway, Mongal Simpang Wariji, Blang Kolak II, the old bus terminal area, Jalan Lintang, Simpang Empat, and multiple zones in downtown Takengon and the Lut Tawar district.

A range of police vehicles was deployed to ensure mobility and rapid response capabilities throughout the operation.

Community Engagement Through Dialogue Patrols

In addition to enforcement actions, officers carried out "dialogue patrols" by engaging directly with local residents. The initiative aimed to provide public safety guidance and encourage community participation in preventing criminal activity and maintaining order.

Aceh Tengah Police Chief, Muhamad Taufiq, emphasized that routine patrols remain a key preventive strategy to reduce traffic violations and security disruptions in the region.

During the large-scale night patrol, no evidence of ongoing illegal street racing was found. Authorities consider this a positive indication of the deterrent effect created by increased police presence in public spaces.
