DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – The Regent of Deli Serdang, Asri Ludin Tambunan, together with Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo, directly received complaints from farmers in Amplas Village, Percut Sei Tuan District. The issues highlighted included damaged roads, inadequate irrigation systems, and recurring flooding in rice fields. The visit took place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, following a rice planting activity using a rice transplanter operated by the youth farming brigade "Tani Muda Lestari."
During an on-site discussion, farmers expressed their daily challenges, which continue to affect mobility and agricultural productivity in the area.Represented by Masumarta br Sembiring, the farmers stated their willingness to support government infrastructure development, even if it requires portions of their land to be used for road expansion.

Another farmer, Mastina br Barus, explained that most fields in the area still depend heavily on rainfall, allowing only two harvests per year. She added that productivity across approximately 241 hectares of farmland could be significantly increased if rivers were normalized and irrigation systems were improved.

In response to the complaints, Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan instructed the Agriculture Office and the Department of Water Resources, Roads, and Construction Infrastructure (SDABMBK) to immediately conduct on-site inspections. Both agencies are tasked with carrying out technical measurements and accelerating infrastructure rehabilitation.
"We want these issues to be resolved quickly. Better infrastructure means higher yields and ultimately greater welfare for the community," he emphasized.He also urged village heads to actively involve local communities in the socialization process, particularly in ensuring access for construction equipment to project sites.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the Deli Serdang government announced the distribution of modern agricultural machinery (Alsintan). These tools will be managed through local agricultural UPT offices and made available for farmers to borrow free of charge. Farmers will only be responsible for operational costs such as fuel, while maintenance and repairs will be covered by the government.

Following the agricultural visit, the Regent and Deputy Regent also inspected the Al Barokah livestock farm in Kolam Village, where they engaged with cattle farmers regarding livestock development.
The government pledged continued support through vaccination programs, vitamin distribution, and the provision of livestock seedlings for organized farming groups. The ongoing construction of the slaughterhouse (RPH) in Tanjung Morawa is also expected to accommodate products from local farmers in Kolam and surrounding areas."I want people to truly earn a living from livestock farming—not only through animal distribution but also through guaranteed market access," the Regent added.
