LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM — Darkness swept across several villages in Torgamba District following a power outage caused by the state electricity company, PLN. However, the Torgamba Sector Police (Polsek Torgamba) quickly stepped in to provide assistance and reassurance to affected residents, turning a difficult night into one marked by solidarity and support.
Under the leadership of Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, S.H., officers immediately deployed to residential areas in Aek Batu Village, Asahan Hamlet, conducting patrols and community visits to ensure public safety and stability during the blackout.
Alongside routine security operations, the police also delivered practical humanitarian aid by bringing an emergency generator to support basic electricity needs and help residents recharge their mobile devices.

The assistance took place on Saturday night, May 23, 2026, at around 9:45 p.m. WIB in Asahan Hamlet, Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.

The deployed generator became a vital lifeline for residents, enabling them to charge mobile phones during the prolonged power outage. At least 18 mobile phones were successfully recharged, helping residents maintain communication with family members and emergency contacts.
This simple yet impactful support significantly eased the situation, especially as communication access remained essential during the electricity disruption.

AKP Sunipan Gurusinga personally led his team through the affected neighborhoods, ensuring that security conditions remained stable while also listening to residents' concerns regarding the ongoing blackout.
The police emphasized that their role extends beyond law enforcement, highlighting the importance of social support and community assistance in times of crisis.
"The police must be present in the community, especially in situations like this. We are here to help as best as we can so people feel safe and supported," said AKP Sunipan Gurusinga during the patrol.

"Thank you to the Police Chief and all officers from Polsek Torgamba for their quick response. We are very grateful for the generator that allowed us to charge our phones and provided temporary lighting," said a local resident.
As a gesture of gratitude, residents also presented symbolic tokens of appreciation to the police team.
