BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Aceh Provincial Government has underscored the importance of improving education quality as the foundation for preparing a capable, strong-charactered, adaptable and future-oriented generation. The message was at the heart of the commemoration of the 67th anniversary of the Aceh Regional Education Day (Hardikda Aceh) 2026, held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Aceh Governor's Office complex.
Acting Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government, Taufik, ST, M.Si, served as the ceremony's leader. The commemoration carried the theme, "Advancing Education in Aceh, Building an Islamic, Capable and Dignified Generation."The ceremony was attended by government representatives and various education stakeholders. Among those present were members of the Aceh Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, assistants to the Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government, heads of offices within the Provincial Government Secretariat, representatives of relevant agencies, school principals, academics, as well as students from various schools in Banda Aceh.
In his address, Taufik emphasized that the quality of education today will largely determine the future of Aceh. In his view, developing the education system should not focus solely on academic achievement. Equally important is strengthening students' character so they possess moral values, creativity, independence, adaptability, technological skills and integrity."Education is a shared responsibility. The government, teachers, parents, businesses, communities and all education stakeholders must work in the same direction so that every child in Aceh has the opportunity to develop and reach their full potential," Taufik said.
At the same time, he highlighted the potential of Aceh's younger generation, which continues to show positive development. Increasing numbers of children and young people from Aceh have achieved success in various fields, ranging from academic performance to sports, the arts and culture. These achievements have reached both national and international levels. Taufik viewed the accomplishments of Aceh's students as evidence that the province has young human resources with significant potential who must continue to receive support.
According to Taufik, the Aceh Government must provide students with broader opportunities to further develop their abilities and achieve success. Continuous support, along with strengthening teachers' competencies, is also an important factor in creating an educational environment where students can develop to their fullest potential.
On the occasion, Taufik also urged students not to stop learning and to continuously develop their existing abilities. He encouraged young people to use the educational process as a space to build their skills, character and confidence.
In his view, success does not arise solely from academic abilities. Students should also develop their talents and skills in various fields, including sports, arts, culture, technology and other positive activities.Taufik also reminded the audience of the importance of disaster preparedness. Aceh's long experience in dealing with various disasters, he said, should serve as a learning process for all educational institutions so that a culture of preparedness and resilience can be developed in schools.
Schools must have clear emergency procedures so that members of the school community can respond quickly and appropriately in situations that threaten students' safety. This message is particularly significant for Aceh, which has extensive experience in dealing with various types of disasters. School preparedness, therefore, should not be limited to providing the necessary facilities. Equally important is ensuring that all members of the school community understand safety procedures and know how to respond properly to emergency situations.

The Aceh Government aims to ensure that improvements in education services are not concentrated solely in urban areas. Equitable provision must also reach remote regions so that every child in Aceh has the opportunity to receive appropriate, high-quality education.
These measures are part of the Aceh Government's agenda to realize its vision of an "Islamic, progressive, dignified and sustainable Aceh." Education holds an important position in achieving this vision, as the quality of human resources will determine how effectively Aceh can harness its potential and overcome development challenges.By strengthening education quality, the Aceh Government seeks to build a generation equipped with both knowledge and strong character. Aceh's younger generation is expected to grow into educated, morally grounded, confident and trustworthy individuals capable of playing an active role in the development of the region.
The 67th anniversary of the Aceh Regional Education Day therefore provides an important opportunity to reaffirm that progress in education requires collective action. The government, educational institutions, teachers, families, communities and other stakeholders must contribute according to their respective responsibilities. With continuous support, the potential of Aceh's younger generation can continue to flourish. The achievements already attained by students from various regions represent valuable capital for developing human resources capable of competing at both national and international levels, while maintaining the Islamic values and character traits that form an important part of Aceh's identity.
