MTQ LABUHANBATU SELATAN INAUGURATION: Regent of Labuhanbatu Selatan, Fery Sahputra Simatupang, officially opens the 17th MTQ and 18th FSQ 2026 at Sidodadi Square, Kampung Rakyat Subdistrict, joined by thousands of residents and participant contingents from five subdistricts.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Islamic propagation (Syiar Islam) once again resonates strongly in the "Land of Polite Speech, Wise Words, and Value-Based Deeds" as the Regent of Labuhanbatu Selatan, Fery Sahputra Simatupang, officially inaugurated the 17th Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) and the 18th Qasidah Art Festival (FSQ) at the district level for 2026. The event is held at Sidodadi Square, Perkebunan Teluk Panji Village, Kampung Rakyat Subdistrict, running from May 20 to 23, 2026.

The opening ceremony of MTQ and FSQ was conducted in a vibrant yet solemn atmosphere. Regent Fery personally led the inauguration, which was attended by thousands of residents along with kafilah (participant contingents) from all five subdistricts of Labuhanbatu Selatan. The event is regarded as an important milestone in strengthening Islamic propagation and reinforcing ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood) within the community.

Also present were representatives from the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), heads of regional work units (OPD), religious and community leaders, youth organizations (OKP), subdistrict heads, village officials, and other invited guests.

The MTQ features various Qur'anic disciplines, including tilawah (recitation), tahfiz (memorization), tafsir (interpretation), fahmil (Qur'anic knowledge quiz), syarhil (Qur'anic speech), and khat al-Qur'an (calligraphy). Meanwhile, FSQ serves as a platform for preserving Islamic musical and artistic traditions closely tied to religious values and da'wah-oriented culture.

These events are not merely annual programs but also strategic instruments to foster love for the Holy Qur'an and shape a morally grounded, religious, and competitive young generation.

In his address, Fery Sahputra Simatupang emphasized the importance of a professional, transparent, and conflict-free implementation of MTQ and FSQ. He urged the organizing committee to ensure that judges and jury members uphold the highest standards of integrity in the evaluation process.

"This event is not merely a routine ceremony, but a strategic effort to strengthen Islamic brotherhood and build a strong Qur'anic generation in Labuhanbatu Selatan," the Regent stated.

He further stressed that judges must remain objective and have no familial ties with participants to preserve the credibility of the competition. According to him, MTQ and FSQ are expected to produce talented young individuals capable of representing Labuhanbatu Selatan at provincial, national, and international levels.

Fery also reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting participants while emphasizing discipline, fairness, and deepening religious knowledge throughout the competition.

"The government of Labuhanbatu Selatan remains committed to fostering a Qur'an-based generation as the foundation for a progressive, religious, and dignified region," he added.

Ta'aruf Parade Enlivens Kampung Rakyat

Following the opening ceremony, a colorful ta'aruf parade took place. Participant groups from the five subdistricts showcased Islamic cultural performances featuring traditional attire, religious symbols, and a strong sense of community spirit.

The parade marked the official start of the competitions and created a deeply spiritual atmosphere in Kampung Rakyat Subdistrict.

The 17th MTQ and 18th FSQ are expected to become a milestone for spiritual renewal among the people of Labuhanbatu Selatan, strengthening Qur'anic values as a way of life and fostering a harmonious and blessed region. (IDNC)
