LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Applause and enthusiasm from members filled the courtyard of the DPD office of the Ikatan Pemuda Karya (IPK) Labuhanbatu Selatan on Monday, August 31, 2026, along Jalan Lintas Sumatera in Simaninggir, Kotapinang. As part of the celebration of IPK's 57th anniversary, organizers chose to give the occasion a deeper meaning. At the heart of the celebration was a social assistance program providing support to 120 orphans and children from single-parent families.
The initiative was an important part of the youth organization's anniversary celebration. The presence of the children ensured that the event went beyond ceremonies, speeches and commemorations of the organization's history, creating space for solidarity and concrete concern for the community.
Among those attending the event were Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang, S.H.; Secretary of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, S.S.T.P., M.AP.; Secretary of the North Sumatra DPW IPK, Darwin Lubis; several heads of agencies within the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government; Chairman of the DPD IPK Labuhanbatu Selatan, Repol Mahdan Harahap; Secretary of the DPD IPK Labuhanbatu Selatan, Ferdiansyahputra Simamora, S.H.; Treasurer of the DPD IPK Labuhanbatu Selatan, Muhammad Taufik Ansari Siregar, S.H., M.H.; Chairman of PAC IPK Torgamba, Sofyan Ansory Rambe; and Secretary of PAC IPK Torgamba, David Arjuna Sihombing. Numerous IPK Labuhanbatu Selatan officials and members were also present.
Chairmen and members of PAC-IPK units from across Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency were also in attendance, adding to the festive atmosphere of the anniversary celebration.
The 57th anniversary of IPK also provided an opportunity to reflect on the organization's long journey. The age of an organization is not merely a number, but also a measure of its ability to deliver tangible benefits to society.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang praised the DPD IPK Labusel's decision to combine the organization's anniversary with a social initiative.
According to Fery, youth organizations play a strategic role in supporting regional development. Therefore, youth organizations must be capable of creating a positive impact and contributing to solutions for various challenges faced by the community.
"Youth organizations must be part of the solution and bring benefits to society. An anniversary should not be merely a ceremony, but also an opportunity to strengthen social awareness and togetherness," Fery emphasized.
Fery also called on all youth organizations in Labuhanbatu Selatan to strengthen cooperation with the regional government. Collaboration between the government and youth organizations is important to maintain security and public order, strengthen social cohesion and create a conducive environment for regional development.
The regional government needs the energy of young people not only for organizational activities. Rather, it expects young people to become a driving force for social initiatives, development and the strengthening of community solidarity.
Through its 57th anniversary, the DPD IPK Labusel demonstrated that a youth organization can mark its anniversary with an initiative that delivers social value. The support provided to 120 orphans was a concrete expression of that commitment to society.
The Secretary of the North Sumatra DPW IPK, Darwin Lubis, reminded all members that 57 years represents a long journey and should serve as motivation to continuously develop the organization.
In Darwin's view, an organization with such a long history must demonstrate increasing maturity and continue strengthening its contribution to society and the region. IPK must further develop its role as a platform for character building, solidarity and social responsibility.
"Fifty-seven years is not a short time. This is a moment for IPK to remain active, preserve solidarity and make a positive contribution to society and the region," Darwin said.
According to Darwin, the assistance provided to orphans demonstrates that an organization's existence is not determined solely by its organizational presence. A long organizational history also carries a social responsibility that members must fulfill through concrete action.
The presence of the orphans and children from single-parent families also gave the celebration a special atmosphere. As officials handed over the assistance, members were not only celebrating their organization's history but also sharing their joy with the community.
The event demonstrated that an organization's anniversary can serve as an opportunity to strengthen the connection between its members and society. Solidarity and social responsibility thus became central messages that the DPD IPK Labusel sought to convey through the celebration.
The chairman of the organizing committee for the 57th anniversary of the DPD IPK Labuhanbatu Selatan, Jujur M.P. Sitorus, spoke about the organization's future direction. In his view, 57 years reflects the struggles, sacrifices, loyalty and dedication of the organization's founders, senior members, pioneers and all IPK members.
For this reason, Jujur emphasized that IPK's anniversary should not stop at a ceremonial event. The organization must translate that spirit into concrete work that responds to the needs of society.
"When society needs help, IPK must be there. When society needs compassion, IPK must be there. When Labuhanbatu Selatan needs young people to preserve solidarity, IPK must be ready to be there," Jujur emphasized.
The statement also underlines the organization's future direction. Members are not only expected to preserve internal solidarity, but must also be capable of being present and providing tangible benefits to society.
Jujur also highlighted the value of togetherness reflected in the social initiative. The orphans and children from single-parent families attending the event came from different religious backgrounds. The assistance provided to 120 orphans represented the most human-centered aspect of IPK Labusel's 57th anniversary celebration. At the same time, the initiative presented all members with the challenge of carrying the spirit of solidarity forward after the event had ended.

It is hoped that Chairman of the DPD IPK Labuhanbatu Selatan Repol Mahdan Harahap, together with the organization's board, will preserve this spirit and ensure that it does not end in the courtyard of the organization's office. IPK must carry the spirit of togetherness into society and bring it to life through concrete action.
On the occasion, Jujur also expressed his appreciation to Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang for his attention and support for the IPK anniversary celebration. He expressed hope that the 57th anniversary would further strengthen the unity of the extended IPK family in Labusel while expanding the organization's role as a partner of the regional government in development and social programs.
Jujur also conveyed a message to the orphans and children from single-parent families, urging them never to stop learning and dreaming. He encouraged them to grow into a generation that their families, their region, their nation and their country could be proud of.
