Aceh Marks 10 Years of Trans Kutaraja, Reaches 10 Million Passengers

10 YEARS OF TRANS KUTARAJA: The Aceh Government celebrates the 10th anniversary of Trans Kutaraja at the Type-A Batoh Terminal in Banda Aceh on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The free public transportation service has transported around 10 million passengers over the past decade.

BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM The Aceh Provincial Government celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Trans Kutaraja public transportation service at the Type-A Batoh Terminal in Banda Aceh on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Over the past decade, the free public transit system has transported around 10 million passengers, making it one of the most prominent symbols of public service in Aceh.

Aceh Provincial Secretary M Nasir said Trans Kutaraja reflects the regional government's commitment to providing accessible and high-quality public transportation for the community.

"Within a decade, Trans Kutaraja has served 10 million passengers and continues to operate free of charge. The service has become a symbol of public transportation in Aceh," Nasir said.

Reflecting on Public Service Improvements

Nasir emphasized that the 10-year milestone is not only a celebration, but also a moment to reflect on the government's efforts to continuously improve public services, particularly in the transportation sector.

According to him, Trans Kutaraja represents the government's commitment to developing an inclusive transportation system that delivers direct benefits to the public.

Currently, Trans Kutaraja serves Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar through several routes connecting key destinations across the region. A total of 60 buses operate daily, transporting between 2,000 and 4,000 passengers at no cost.

Nasir also assured the public that the free transportation program will continue under the leadership of Governor Muzakir Manaf and Deputy Governor Fadhlullah.

"The Aceh Government is committed to gradually expanding the public mass transportation system to other cities and regencies across Aceh," he said.

Digital Innovations Introduced for Passengers

Head of the Aceh Transportation Agency Teuku Faisal stated that the free Trans Kutaraja service is a tangible form of government support for public mobility.

"Trans Kutaraja has become part of the daily lives of thousands of students, workers, market visitors, and mosque worshippers," Faisal said.

To improve service quality, the Transportation Agency introduced new digital innovations, namely Q-Raja and the Raja Card.

Q-Raja is a QR code-based check-in system designed to simplify passenger access to public transportation. Meanwhile, the Raja Card is intended for residents who are not yet familiar with smartphone technology.
