BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Secretary of Aceh Province, M. Nasir, attended the plenary session of the Aceh Regional House of Representatives (DPRA), which carried the agenda for the approval and ratification of draft regional regulations (Qanun Aceh) initiated by the DPRA for the year 2026. The session was held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the main DPRA building in Banda Aceh.

The plenary meeting marked an important moment in the regional legislative process, reaffirming the role of the DPRA as the people's representative institution of Aceh in formulating strategic regional policies. Present at the session were the parliamentary leadership, DPRA members, representatives of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), as well as heads of various Aceh Provincial Government working units (SKPA) and related agencies.

DPRA Strengthens Its Legislative Role

The session was chaired by Deputy Speaker of the DPRA, Ali Basrah, who opened the deliberation and stated that the three draft Qanun initiatives had previously undergone thorough examination within the relevant committees before being submitted to the plenary for final approval.

Ali Basrah emphasized that this review phase is crucial to ensure that each draft possesses a solid legal foundation, social relevance, and direct benefits for the people of Aceh.

Transparent Legislative Deliberation

Following the opening of the session, the initiators presented the substance of the three draft regulations through representatives of the DPRA committees and legislative body. The presentations were conducted openly to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the proposed content.

Subsequently, all factions were given the opportunity to deliver statements, assessments, and recommendations on each draft. The discussion process was dynamic and aimed at further refining the substance of the proposed legislation.

Lawmakers highlighted the importance of alignment between regional policies and the needs of the community. Issues related to implementation, oversight, and program sustainability were also discussed in depth.

Aceh Province Secretary M. Nasir attended the session as a form of executive support for the ongoing legislative process. He emphasized the need for close collaboration between the executive and legislative branches to ensure effective and socially relevant policymaking.

DPRA Approves Three Qanun Drafts

After the completion of all deliberation phases, the plenary session reached a consensus and officially approved the three initiative drafts as DPRA-originated proposals for 2026. This decision marks the beginning of further legal processing in accordance with applicable regulations.

The official decision was read out by DPRA Secretary Khudri, who also formally closed the session. The announcement was witnessed by all participants, including parliamentary leadership, DPRA members, Forkopimda representatives, and the Aceh Provincial Government.

With this decision, the DPRA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its legislative function, not only in administrative terms but also in supporting social, educational, economic, and generational development in Aceh.

In the next stages, the drafts will undergo further refinement, legal harmonization, and implementation assessments to ensure effective application in practice. (IDNC)
