JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - An attempt to submit a no-confidence motion against the chairman of the Neighborhood Unit (RT 04) in Wijaya Pura Subdistrict, Jambi Selatan District, Suherman, has officially failed. A community meeting held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Wijaya Pura Subdistrict Office meeting hall concluded that the proposal to remove the RT chairman did not meet the requirements stipulated under Jambi Mayor Regulation No. 6 of 2025.
RT 04 community representative Bekty Thabrany explained the outcome of the meeting on Saturday, July 11, 2026. He emphasized that the forum did not receive the required level of support to remove the legally appointed and currently serving RT chairman.
The decision was recorded in the official minutes of the RT 04 community and neighborhood meeting in Wijaya Pura held on July 5, 2026. The meeting was attended by representatives of the subdistrict administration, Bhabinkamtibmas, Babinsa, paralegals, community leaders, and residents of RT 04.
According to the official minutes, RT 04 consists of 127 households. However, only representatives from 37 households attended the meeting. After hearing objections from several residents as well as the statement from the RT chairman, the forum concluded that the no-confidence motion failed to meet the legal requirements because it was not supported by at least two-thirds of the registered households.
The official document also confirmed that Suherman remains legally recognized as the chairman of RT 04 in Wijaya Pura for the 2025–2030 term in accordance with Jambi Mayor Regulation No. 6 of 2025.
Bekty stated that the meeting's decision serves as a legal basis for resolving the internal dispute within RT 04. In his view, the entire process was conducted through an official forum involving the subdistrict administration and relevant security authorities, making the decision based on a clear administrative foundation.
He further explained that the meeting minutes were signed by representatives of the subdistrict administration, Bhabinkamtibmas, Babinsa, paralegals, and community leaders, and were officially approved by the head of Wijaya Pura Subdistrict.
Through the document, the forum officially declared that the no-confidence motion against the RT chairman did not fulfill the legal requirements, meaning Suherman would continue carrying out his duties until the end of his term.
Bekty also revealed that tensions briefly escalated after the decision was announced. Several residents who supported the no-confidence motion expressed disappointment, leading to heated exchanges with other participants.
However, the situation remained under control. Community leaders, subdistrict administration representatives, and security personnel managed to quickly calm the atmosphere, preventing the disagreement from developing into acts of violence.
Amid these developments, Bekty suspected that provocations had contributed to increasing tensions during the meeting.

Bekty claimed that the tense situation was allegedly triggered by a police officer identified by the initial R, who he stated works at the Jambi Regional Police (Polda Jambi).
According to Bekty, R initially supported Suherman during the RT chairman election. However, he later allegedly encouraged residents to support the removal of the legally elected RT chairman.
"At first, he supported Mr. Suherman. Later, he encouraged residents to remove the RT chairman," Bekty said.
He appealed to all parties to respect the outcome of the community meeting because the decision was based on applicable legal provisions. In his opinion, the result should end the prolonged dispute while maintaining stability within the neighborhood.
Following the meeting, RT 04 Chairman Suherman invited all residents to reunite and work together to improve their neighborhood environment.
He announced plans to soon hold a meeting to prepare various work programs for the next five years. The goal is to create a more developed, safer, and more comfortable neighborhood while strengthening unity among residents.
Suherman also plans to organize regular community cooperation activities (Gotong Royong) and improve public communication so residents can become more actively involved in neighborhood programs.
In addition, he intends to reorganize the RT administrative structure to strengthen leadership and management throughout his term.
"Now is the time for us to support one another and work together for the progress of our neighborhood. I hope for good cooperation from all residents," he said.
With the outcome of the community meeting, the controversy surrounding the no-confidence motion against the RT 04 chairman in Wijaya Pura is considered administratively resolved. Residents are now encouraged to strengthen unity and jointly support various development programs during the RT chairman's 2025–2030 term. (IDNC)
