Mosque Expansion to Improve Worship Comfort

Chairman of the Al-Mukhsinin Mosque Renovation Committee, H. A. Rachmansyah Rahman, said the renovation is an important initiative aimed at providing greater comfort and peace for worshippers while carrying out their religious obligations.

He explained that the deteriorating condition of the existing building encouraged local Muslim residents to work together to renovate the mosque, ensuring that the place of worship would better serve the needs of the growing congregation.

Senior community figure and one of the witnesses to the mosque's early history, H. Suwito Asmo, shared that Al-Mukhsinin Mosque has served the community since the 1960s.

"The Al-Mukhsinin Mosque was established in the 1960s as a charitable endowment (waqf) from the late Mr. Saleh. Due to the aging structure and limited prayer space, members of the Muslim community agreed to renovate, expand, and enhance the mosque to better accommodate worshippers," H. Suwito Asmo said.

He added that the committee aims to complete the renovation within approximately six months. The total project budget is estimated at around Rp900 million, while donations collected so far have reached approximately Rp400 million.

H. Suwito expressed hope that once completed, Al-Mukhsinin Mosque would accommodate more worshippers and become a center for religious activities serving the surrounding Muslim community.

A New Milestone for Community Unity

Babura Sunggal Subdistrict Head Hadengganan Harahap, S.Pd, praised the residents' commitment to improving their place of worship through mutual cooperation. He emphasized that the renovation represents not only physical development but also a stronger sense of solidarity and togetherness among the local community.

Accompanied by Subdistrict Secretary Saleh Harahap, Hadengganan expressed his appreciation for the commencement of the project.

"The cornerstone laying for the renovation of Al-Mukhsinin Mosque marks a new beginning in strengthening the Muslim community in Medan, particularly in Babura Sunggal. May the construction proceed smoothly and become a lasting act of charity for all of us," he said.

He also expressed hope that every stage of the construction would proceed according to plan and receive broad public support, allowing the renovated mosque to provide even greater benefits to the surrounding community.
