BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM The Secretary of Aceh Province, M. Nasir, officially opened the working meeting and gathering of the Universitas Gadjah Mada Alumni Family (Kagama) Aceh on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the BSI Landmark Building in Banda Aceh. The event is seen as a key momentum to strengthen the role of alumni in regional development.

Nasir, who also serves as Chairman of Kagama Aceh, emphasized in his remarks the strong moral and intellectual responsibility carried by UGM alumni. He stated that Kagama is not only a network of solidarity, but also a strategic space for shaping ideas that support Aceh's progress.

"The distribution of UGM alumni across various sectors—from government and business to academia—is a tremendous asset. We must unite this collaborative spirit to generate collective energy that drives Aceh toward independent and sustainable development," Nasir said.

He further highlighted that Kagama Aceh has consistently played an active role in community development initiatives. The network has been regularly involved in humanitarian missions and disaster response efforts across various regions in Aceh.

Nasir recalled Kagama Aceh's direct involvement following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Aceh in January 2005. At that time, the alumni network participated in emergency relief efforts, volunteer activities, and the construction of temporary shelters in Aceh Tamiang.

"Kagama Aceh is not only a platform for ideas, but also for real action. We were directly involved in distributing aid, working as volunteers, and supporting the construction of temporary housing for affected communities," he explained.

Beyond humanitarian efforts, Kagama Aceh has also placed strong emphasis on education. Since August 2023, the "Beasiswa Asuh" scholarship program has been running continuously to expand educational access for children in Aceh.

Nasir concluded by stressing that the outcomes of the working meeting must go beyond theoretical discussions and translate into concrete solutions for societal challenges. He also called for stronger organizational structures to ensure adaptability in addressing future developments.
