BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Barelang Police (Polresta Barelang) have released the results of a large-scale enforcement operation targeting illegal street racing and the use of non-standard modified exhaust systems, commonly known as "brong," within their jurisdiction.

The Traffic Unit of Polresta Barelang has significantly intensified its enforcement actions in response to growing public complaints regarding noise pollution and the dangers posed by illegal street racing activities.
Between April 15 and 19, 2026, officers carried out targeted operations across several known hotspots, including Nagoya, Jalan Raden Patah, Simpang Laluan Madani, Bundaran Madani, Hotel 01 area, Simpang Masjid Raya, Simpang Frengki, Jalan R.E. Martadinata in Sekupang, Simpang Kara, and other locations under local precinct jurisdiction.

The operation combined routine patrols and sudden raids aimed at curbing traffic violations and restoring public order. As a result, authorities confiscated a total of 102 motorcycles equipped with illegal or non-compliant exhaust systems.All vehicles were taken to police headquarters as evidence, while riders faced fines and legal proceedings.

Offenders may face fines of up to IDR 250,000 or imprisonment for up to one month. Additional regulations under Government Regulation No. 80/2012 and environmental noise standards were also applied.
