The authorities arrested Julita, who had been convicted of illegal mining activities in a forest area, at around 8 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Monday, September 14, 2026. Officers located him at his rented house on Jalan Sukapura, Suka Maju Urban Village, Medan Johor District, Medan, North Sumatra.
Head of the Intelligence Section at the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office, Jupri W. Banjarnahor, said officers encountered resistance from the convict's family during the arrest. Jupri explained that the successful arrest was the result of continuous monitoring conducted by the intelligence team. The intelligence team of the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office had previously tracked Julita's movements to determine his whereabouts.
After receiving information that the convict was in Medan, the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office intelligence team coordinated with the intelligence team of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office. The coordination enabled the authorities to obtain more precise information about Julita's whereabouts before carrying out the arrest.According to Jupri, cooperation between the intelligence teams was a key part of the search for the fugitive convict, who was already subject to a legally binding court ruling.
"The securing of this person on the wanted list demonstrates the prosecutor's commitment to ensuring that every legally binding court ruling can be enforced. We will continue coordination and search efforts for other fugitives, particularly to support law enforcement and ensure legal certainty for the public," said the Head of the Intelligence Section of the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office.
Julita had previously been placed on the wanted list in connection with a forestry-related criminal case. The case stemmed from mining activities carried out in a forest area without the required permits.
According to the findings of the panel of judges in the case, Julita carried out excavation work using heavy equipment in the Lolo River. The excavated soil was subsequently washed to extract gold. The mining site was located within a limited production forest area (Hutan Produksi Terbatas/HPT).These activities formed the basis of the criminal proceedings against Julita, which eventually reached the cassation stage at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia (Mahkamah Agung Republik Indonesia).
Based on Supreme Court Decision No. 1205K/Pid.Sus-LH/2025, the panel of judges found that Julita had been proven beyond reasonable doubt to have committed the criminal offense of "intentionally unlawfully cultivating and/or utilizing and/or occupying a forest area.""For this offense, the Supreme Court sentenced the convict to two years in prison and imposed a fine of Rp10,000,000," he said.
The ruling is legally binding. However, Julita did not immediately begin serving his sentence. The prosecution subsequently placed him on the wanted list and launched search efforts until his whereabouts were eventually traced to Medan.
Following his arrest, officers took Julita to the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office to complete the administrative procedures before handing him over to the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office.
Jupri said the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office subsequently coordinated with the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office and relevant authorities to ensure that all administrative procedures and the execution of the sentence were carried out in accordance with the court ruling and applicable laws and regulations."Following his successful arrest, the convict was subsequently handed over to the General Crimes Division of the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office to execute the court ruling. The execution was carried out by the Head of the General Crimes Division of the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office, Gilbeth Sitindaon, SH, MH, by placing the convict in the Class I Tanjung Gusta Prison in Medan," he said in conclusion.
With the execution of the sentence, the prosecution implemented the Supreme Court's decision, which sentenced Julita to two years in prison and a fine of Rp10 million.Jupri emphasized that Julita's successful arrest demonstrated the prosecutor's commitment to locating and enforcing court sentences against convicted individuals who continue to evade the legal process. He said the intelligence team would continue monitoring and coordinating efforts to locate other individuals on the wanted list.
The Head of the Intelligence Section of the Mandailing Natal District Prosecutor's Office also stressed that there is no safe place for individuals who have been placed on the wanted list. He urged all fugitives who remain in hiding to immediately surrender to the authorities and submit themselves to the applicable legal process.These measures are part of the prosecution's commitment to ensuring that every legally binding court ruling can be enforced.
