LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Drug Investigation Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police has arrested RY, alias YOGI, 20, from Aman Makmur Hamlet, Hajoran Village, Sei Kanan District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The young man is suspected of possessing methamphetamine, locally known as "sabu." RY was arrested on Monday, September 7, 2026, at around 12:30 a.m. local time.
During the operation, officers seized five small transparent plastic bags containing a substance suspected to be methamphetamine. The seized substance had a total gross weight of 1.69 grams. Police also confiscated an improvised water pipe or bong, a scoop-shaped pipette, a white cigarette pack and tissues, which were allegedly linked to the drugs.According to the report, residents informed authorities of alleged methamphetamine trafficking in Aman Makmur Hamlet, Hajoran Village, Sei Kanan District.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., subsequently ordered officers to verify the information through an investigation at the reported location.While monitoring the area, officers encountered a man whose behavior they considered suspicious. Police then detained him. During the subsequent identification process, the man was identified as RY, alias YOGI.
Officers then searched RY and inspected the area surrounding the location where he was arrested.
During the search, officers initially found a small transparent plastic bag containing a substance suspected to be drugs near RY.
Police then continued searching the surrounding area and discovered a white cigarette pack. Upon inspection, officers found four transparent plastic bags inside the pack, each containing a substance suspected to be methamphetamine.The four bags had been wrapped in white tissue paper. Officers also found a bong and a scoop-shaped pipette in the vicinity.
In total, police seized five transparent plastic bags containing suspected methamphetamine with a combined gross weight of 1.69 grams, along with other related items.Officers subsequently conducted an initial questioning of RY regarding the suspected drugs.
"During the initial questioning, RY, alias YOGI, admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to him," AKP Sujono said.
Following the suspect's arrest and the seizure of the evidence, officers took RY to the South Labuhanbatu Police station. Investigators conducted further questioning there as part of efforts to fully clarify the case.
Police are also expanding the investigation to determine the source of the drugs allegedly possessed by RY and to identify any other individuals who may have been involved in the illegal drug trade.AKP Sujono expressed appreciation to members of the public for providing information through the police's official communication channels. He said public reports play an important role in uncovering suspected drug-related offenses.
He urged residents to immediately report any indications of suspected drug trafficking in their neighborhoods."The Polres Labuhanbatu Selatan appreciate information from the public submitted through the police's official channels. We urge all citizens to contact emergency number 110 or the nearest police station. Together, we must fight drugs because they can have devastating consequences, particularly for the younger generation," he stressed.
