DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government has expressed its appreciation for the Maha Kumbhaabhisegam ceremony held at the Shri-Minachi-Amman Temple on Jalan Persatuan Raya, Gang Amman No. 01, Helvetia, Labuhan Deli District, on Sunday, September 13, 2026. The regional government views the religious event as an important contribution to strengthening tolerance and interfaith harmony amid the diverse population of Deli Serdang.

Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan, through his Special Adviser for Social Affairs and Human Resources Development, Hanip Fahri, conveyed his appreciation to the devotees who took part in the entire series of Maha Kumbhaabhisegam ceremonies. He expressed hope that the event would not only be a significant moment for the Hindu community but would also strengthen social relations and solidarity among residents.

"The Deli Serdang Government appreciates the organization of this event. We hope that Maha Kumbhaabhisegam will further strengthen solidarity, togetherness, and religious harmony in Deli Serdang," he said.

Hanip emphasized that the diversity of religions, ethnic groups, cultures, and traditions is one of the strengths of the people of Deli Serdang. He called on all segments of society to continue placing mutual respect at the center of social relations. According to Hanip, every religious community must be provided with a safe and appropriate space to freely practice its beliefs and religious traditions.

15-Meter Statue Reflects Cultural Diversity

In addition to recognizing the Maha Kumbhaabhisegam ceremony, Hanip also highlighted the statue at the Shri-Minachi-Amman Temple. The statue stands approximately 15 meters tall and is considered one of the tallest statues in North Sumatra.

According to Hanip, the statue is not only significant to the religious life of the Hindu community but also forms part of the region's cultural wealth and reflects the diversity of North Sumatra.

The presence of houses of worship and different religious symbols within the community also demonstrates that diversity is an integral part of social life. Therefore, the government and the public must work together to ensure that this diversity continues to flourish in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

Religious events such as Maha Kumbhaabhisegam can also contribute to stronger social interaction, he said. Such occasions provide people from different backgrounds with an opportunity to view diversity as something to be respected rather than used to create divisions.
