29 Motorcycles Seized in Sekupang Noise Exhaust Crackdown

ENFORCEMENT AGAINST LOUD EXHAUSTS: Joint police teams in Sekupang conduct inspections targeting motorcycles with non-standard exhaust systems at several hotspots in Sekupang, Batam.

BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM ~ Sekupang Police Station carried out a coordinated enforcement operation targeting illegal street racing and the use of non-standard loud exhaust systems in its jurisdiction. The raid took place at around 4:00 PM local time as part of efforts to reduce traffic accidents and respond to public complaints.

The operation was led directly by Sekupang Police Chief, Kompol Hippal Tua Sirait, with support from multiple agencies including the traffic unit of Polresta Barelang, Samapta personnel, municipal police (Satpol PP), and the FKDM Sekupang community forum.

Officers focused on several known street racing locations, including Tanjung Pinggir and Jalan R.E. Martadinata. The enforcement aimed to prevent public order disturbances such as illegal racing, use of modified loud exhausts, C3 crimes (theft, burglary, and vehicle theft), juvenile delinquency, weapon possession, drug abuse, and potential group conflicts.

Mobile patrols were also deployed to monitor surrounding areas and warn residents about possible criminal activity.

During the operation, police dispersed groups of youths gathering at several points suspected of being used for illegal racing and potential clashes. Officers also inspected vehicles and documentation, focusing on illegal exhaust modifications and incomplete vehicle papers.

A total of 29 motorcycles were seized for using non-standard exhaust systems or lacking valid registration documents (STNK). The situation was successfully brought under control without incident.

All seized vehicles were transferred to the Traffic Unit of Polresta Barelang for further legal processing in accordance with regulations.

Kompol Hippal Tua Sirait urged young people to avoid illegal street racing and the use of non-compliant exhaust systems, warning that such actions endanger both riders and other road users.

"We hope this operation encourages the public to be more disciplined in traffic and helps maintain a safe and stable public order in Sekupang," he said.

He also encouraged residents to immediately report any suspicious or criminal activity to the police. (IDNC)
