ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Aceh Tengah Police has uncovered a suspected online gambling case in Kayu Kul Village, Pegasing District, Aceh Tengah Regency. Police arrested a 20-year-old man identified by the initials AFJ on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at around 4 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, on suspicion of being involved in online slot gambling.
The arrest was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit's Resmob team after officers launched an investigation into suspected online gambling, also known as "Maisir." The officers subsequently went to the location where AFJ was allegedly operating his gambling activities through the internet.During the operation, officers arrested AFJ and seized several pieces of evidence allegedly linked to the online gambling activities. The suspect and the evidence were then taken to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Aceh Tengah Police for further legal proceedings.
Police confiscated an iPhone from AFJ. Officers also secured an online gambling account named Masjar132 on the RAJAQRIS88 application, along with the remaining balance in the account.
The evidence is an important part of the investigation, as investigators must thoroughly examine activities carried out through the account and application. Police also questioned the suspect to obtain information regarding the use of the account, how the gambling activities operated, and his possible involvement in the alleged "Maisir" activities.Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., through Criminal Investigation Unit Chief AKP Abdul Mufakhir, S.H., M.H., said the action was part of the Aceh Tengah Police's commitment to combating gambling activities within its jurisdiction.
"The measures against suspected online gambling are part of our efforts to maintain security and public order while enforcing the laws and regulations applicable in Aceh," Abdul Mufakhir said.According to Abdul Mufakhir, police will continue investigating the case to fully clarify the activities allegedly carried out by the suspect and collect all information required for the investigation.
Police also secured evidence for investigative purposes. Investigators are currently completing the case file while conducting further inquiries into the alleged offense.
These measures are intended to ensure that all facts and evidence related to the case are fully documented before the proceedings move to the next legal stage. Police will also assess the findings of the investigation against the statutory provisions applicable in Aceh.The Aceh Tengah Police said the case would be handled in accordance with investigative procedures and applicable laws and regulations. Police are continuing to investigate the case before determining the next legal steps against the suspect.
The discovery of the case also reflects police efforts to tackle alleged gambling activities conducted through digital platforms. As the investigation remains ongoing, officers will collect and verify all evidence and statements related to the case.The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Aceh Tengah Police ensured that the proceedings against AFJ would be conducted in accordance with applicable regulations.
