ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPMENT: The AI Impact Summit in New Delhi 2026 brings together 92 countries and international organizations to discuss a safe, inclusive, and sustainable ai future.

NEW DELHI | INDATANEWS.COM ~ India is strengthening its position in shaping global artificial intelligence (AI) governance through the AI Impact Summit 2026, held from February 16 to 20 in New Delhi. The high-level forum brings together dozens of countries and leading technology companies to discuss a safe, inclusive, and sustainable future for AI development.

India Pushes AI Ethics with MANAV Framework

At the summit, the Indian government emphasized the urgent need for clear regulatory frameworks to guide the rapid advancement of AI technologies without stifling innovation. Officials noted that AI holds significant potential to boost productivity and modernize public services.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the "MANAV" framework as the ethical foundation of India's AI strategy. The acronym represents Moral and ethical technology, Accountable governance, National sovereignty, Accessible and inclusive systems, and Valid legal frameworks. The initiative aims to ensure AI development remains firmly aligned with human welfare.

92 Nations Adopt New Delhi Declaration

The AI Impact Summit concluded with the adoption of the "New Delhi Declaration," endorsed by 92 countries and international organizations, including Indonesia. Indonesia's delegation was represented by Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria.

The declaration highlights the importance of international cooperation in shaping the future of AI, guided by the principle "Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya" — the welfare and happiness of all. It also outlines seven priority areas, including education, energy efficiency, research development, access to AI resources, and socio-economic innovation.

The summit further underscored the importance of open, secure, and trustworthy AI systems. Participants emphasized the role of open-source technologies and the expansion of digital infrastructure to ensure global equity in AI development.

India and Indonesia also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in digital technologies. The partnership builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2025 during Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's visit to India, focusing on enhanced collaboration in the AI sector. (IDNC)
