Youth Organizations in North Sumatra Urged to Strengthen Collaboration Against Social Challenges

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution has called on all youth organizations in the province to strengthen collaboration in addressing a range of pressing social issues. He emphasized that cross-organizational synergy is essential to ensure that societal challenges can be tackled more efficiently, effectively, and sustainably.

The appeal was delivered during the inauguration ceremony of the Regional Executive Board (DPD) of the Angkatan Muda Pembaharuan Indonesia (AMPI) North Sumatra for the 2026–2031 term, alongside the 9th Regional Conference (Musda IX) of AMPI North Sumatra, held on Sunday evening, June 21, 2026, at the Regale International Convention Centre on Jalan Adam Malik No. 68 in Medan.

Strengthening Synergy Among Youth Organizations

In his remarks, Bobby highlighted a series of ongoing social issues that still require collective action. These include drug abuse, crime, illegal levies (pungli), and cases of undocumented labor migration abroad.

He stressed that social stakeholders—particularly youth organizations—must not address these challenges in isolation.

"There are many issues that we must resolve together. Youth organizations should not work separately, but rather sit down together and collaborate to find solutions to the challenges in the region," he said.

Digital Transformation and Human Resource Development

Bobby also underscored the major challenges of the digital era, which is marked by rapid advances in information technology and artificial intelligence (AI). He noted that these developments require a significant improvement in the quality of human resources to remain competitive in the global landscape.

According to him, youth organizations play a crucial role in preparing a generation that is adaptive, competitive, and capable of leveraging technological progress in a positive way.

The North Sumatra provincial government, he added, is committed to supporting youth development programs, particularly in digital literacy, skills enhancement, and youth empowerment within the framework of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.

AMPI as a Driver of Collaboration

Bobby expressed his expectation that AMPI would take a leading role as a collaborative youth organization in North Sumatra, serving as a bridge between the younger generation and the government while actively contributing to regional development.

"Congratulations to Bang David Luther and all newly appointed officials. May AMPI continue to grow, be valued by society, and make meaningful contributions to North Sumatra," he said in closing.

AMPI Sumut Congress Runs Smoothly and Rapidly

The Chairman of the DPP AMPI, Jerry Sambuaga, praised the conduct of the 9th AMPI North Sumatra Congress, describing it as fast and orderly. He noted that it was one of the quickest congress processes in AMPI's history in Indonesia.

"The confirmation of the chairman took less than 30 minutes. This shows that Bang David enjoys broad support and appreciation from all AMPI structures across regencies and cities in North Sumatra," he said.

Jerry expressed hope that the new leadership would strengthen organizational consolidation down to the village level in order to further enhance AMPI's effectiveness.

David Luther Re-Elected as AMPI North Sumatra Chairman

The Chairman of AMPI North Sumatra, David Luther, expressed gratitude for the renewed trust to lead the organization for the next five years.

He reflected on his organizational journey within AMPI North Sumatra, which began in 2018 as acting chairman, before being officially appointed in 2021 and now reaffirmed through the 9th Regional Conference.

"Without the support of all cadres and officials at the regency and city levels, I would not be able to achieve anything. Thank you for the continued cooperation. Let us strengthen AMPI together and bring benefits to the people of North Sumatra," he said.

He also highlighted the increasing complexity of challenges faced by young people, including drug issues, digital transformation, and global competition requiring technological competence, including artificial intelligence.

David expressed hope that AMPI would serve as a platform for visionary young leaders and act as a bridge between youth and government in regional development.

"We hope AMPI will become a benchmark for youth organizations in North Sumatra and be ready to work hand in hand with the government to further develop the region," he added. (IDNC)
