LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Kampung Rakyat Police have followed up on information from residents regarding suspected drug trafficking and abuse. On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, officers conducted a raid under the "Grebek Sarang Narkoba" (GSN) program in Kampung Perlabian Village, Kampung Rakyat District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
Kampung Rakyat Police officers searched several locations reportedly identified by residents as possible sites for drug use or trafficking. During the operation, officers carried out inspections and searches while coordinating with village authorities and residents to gather information regarding suspected drug-related activities in the area. The police took action after information from the community had previously emerged through reports in online media concerning suspected drug activities in Kampung Perlabian Village. The information subsequently became the basis for officers to verify the situation at the location and conduct further investigation.
The operation reflects the police response to information circulating within the community. Officers did not limit their activities to checking the reported locations but also collected statements and additional information to determine whether the reports could provide a legal basis for further action."We will follow up on every piece of information and every complaint from the community regarding suspected drug trafficking. The Indonesian National Police will not allow drug trafficking to spread in the midst of society," AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis emphasized.
During the GSN operation, officers found several items allegedly indicating traces of drug use. However, the person identified by the initials O, who was reportedly linked to the suspected activities, was not found.Officers did not find O at the operation site or elsewhere within Kampung Perlabian Village when the operation was conducted. Nevertheless, the absence of the individual did not bring the investigation to an end.
Police are continuing to examine the information received to establish its validity. Officers are also pursuing additional information that could assist investigators in determining further legal steps based on evidence secured at the scene."As for the person with the initials O, the investigation and search are still ongoing. The objective is to verify the accuracy of the information received and determine the appropriate legal steps based on the evidence found," the Kampung Rakyat Police chief said.

Representatives from the village administration also participated in the operation. Septian Abadi, head of the Lohsari neighborhood in Kampung Perlabian Village, and Adi, head of Lohsari Barat neighborhood, were also present during the operation.
The involvement of village officials strengthened coordination between the police and local administration in efforts to address suspected drug trafficking. Residents and village officials can assist police by reporting suspicious activities, enabling officers to conduct appropriate checks in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The GSN operation in Kampung Perlabian Village also demonstrates that efforts to combat drugs do not rely solely on police action. Community involvement is an important factor in identifying suspected drug use and trafficking in residential areas at an early stage.
AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis urged residents not to hesitate to provide information if they encounter suspected drug use or trafficking in their surroundings.
According to him, information from the public can help police verify reports and take appropriate action based on established facts and available evidence."Combating drugs requires the support of all parties. We urge the public not to be afraid to provide information if they encounter suspected drug use or trafficking. Report it immediately through the 110 Call Center or to the nearest police station. We will follow up on the information and verify it in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," he said.
