LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Traffic Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police marked the 71st anniversary of Indonesia's Traffic Police (Polantas) in 2026 in a different way. Instead of carrying out traffic enforcement, raids, or operations on the roads, officers turned their attention to a humanitarian initiative. In cooperation with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, they held a blood donation drive as part of a health service program at the SBBK Building in Kotapinang on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The event at the SBBK Building in Kotapinang was part of the 71st Polantas anniversary celebrations and also served as a concrete expression of the officers' social commitment. Despite their regular duties, the officers took the time to make a contribution that could benefit people who rely on blood donations for medical treatment.
The blood donation drive was not merely a social activity within the police force, but also demonstrated that police duties encompass a broader dimension of public service. Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through Traffic Unit Chief AKP Yustina, S.H., M.H., said the blood donation drive was one of the activities organized to commemorate the 71st anniversary of Polantas. According to her, the initiative also underscored the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police's social commitment to the community.
"This health service is not merely an event held as part of the 71st anniversary celebration of Polantas. Beyond that, the blood donation is an expression of care and humanity."
AKP Yustina said the blood collected from police officers could benefit people who are currently undergoing medical treatment or require blood transfusions. For that reason, she said every blood donation carries important meaning for people who depend on medical assistance.
The humanitarian spirit is also part of the police's efforts to further strengthen its relationship with the community. The presence of police officers is not only visible when they carry out their duties enforcing traffic regulations on the roads, but also when people need care and support.
The Traffic Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police involved both police personnel and the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency PMI in carrying out the health service. The cooperation between the two sides helped ensure that the blood donation drive was conducted in an orderly manner and in accordance with applicable medical and health regulations.
The involvement of PMI was an important part of the event, as blood donation requires professional assistance and medical screening in accordance with established procedures. Also attending the blood donation drive were Kotapinang Police Chief AKP Maruli Tua Siregar, S.H., Deputy Chief of the Traffic Unit IPTU Berton Lumbantobing, S.H., Head of the Traffic Monitoring and Regulation Unit IPDA Surianto Silalahi, Labuhanbatu Selatan PMI personnel, as well as several officers and police personnel from the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police.
The presence of police and PMI personnel at the event strengthened cooperation in carrying out social activities. The participating officers not only carried out their respective responsibilities, but also worked together to support an activity that could benefit the community.
