DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Government of Deli Serdang Regency continues to advance the optimization of public spaces as centers of a healthy, productive, and inclusive social life. This commitment was clearly reflected in the implementation of the Car Free Day (CFD) at Tengku Raja Muda Square in Lubuk Pakam on Sunday, June 21, 2026, which was held in a festive atmosphere and attended by thousands of residents from various segments of society.

Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan, together with the Chairperson of the TP PKK Deli Serdang Regency, Ny. Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan, and several heads of regional apparatus organizations (OPD), were present at the location. Their presence underscored the local government's commitment to creating more orderly, comfortable, and beneficial public spaces for the community.

Since early morning, the area known as Segitiga Square was filled with residents who utilized the CFD moment for sports activities, family gatherings, as well as various entertainment and cultural performances. The Deli Serdang Government also provided a range of public services directly on-site, allowing citizens to access them without visiting government offices.

CFD as a Community Activity Hub

During his visit, Asri Ludin Tambunan inspected the area, monitored micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) stalls, assessed parking arrangements, and reviewed available public facilities. He emphasized the importance of structured planning to ensure that the public space provides comfort for all visitors.

Asri Ludin stated that Segitiga Square must evolve into a clean, safe, and well-organized open space. Public areas, he said, are not only meeting points but must also accommodate the needs of all community groups.

"We want Segitiga Square to truly become a comfortable public space for the people. It must be orderly, clean, and safe, and accessible for everyone—from children and families to sports enthusiasts and MSME actors," he said.

Strengthening Order for MSMEs and Public Areas

The Regent also gave special attention to MSMEs, which are an essential part of the CFD ecosystem. He called for a restructuring of vendors previously operating along Jalan Imam Bonjol to be relocated into the square area under a more organized system.

According to him, proper structuring not only improves visitor comfort but also enhances the attractiveness of the location and supports local economic growth.

"MSMEs must be supported, but they need to be well-organized. Their stalls should be neat, clean, and structured so that visitors feel comfortable and the area looks more appealing," he explained.

He also highlighted the importance of proper parking management to ensure that public facilities remain functional and unobstructed, creating a safe and smooth flow for visitors.

Commitment to a Child-Friendly Region

In this regard, Asri Ludin reaffirmed the Deli Serdang Government's commitment to building a child-friendly regency. He stressed the importance of safe, comfortable, and accessible spaces for children and families to play and interact.

The CFD, he noted, is not only a recreational space but also a positive environment for child development and healthy family social interaction.

Public Services Available On-Site

Beyond recreation and sports activities, the CFD in Lubuk Pakam also offered various public services tailored to community needs. These included tax services (Lapak) from the Regional Revenue Agency for property tax (PBB) payments, the "Pas Jempol" service providing integrated health checks, population administration services from the Population and Civil Registration Office, as well as MSME product booths supported by the Cooperatives and MSME Office.

"CFD is not only a space for sports and recreation but also a service area. Citizens can engage in activities while simultaneously accessing various government services more quickly and easily," he said.

Developing a More Representative Public Space

Moving forward, the Deli Serdang Government is committed to continuing the development and redesign of Segitiga Square to become an even more representative center of social activity. With the support of all stakeholders, the Car Free Day is expected to grow into a vibrant, orderly, child-friendly public space that positively contributes to public health, the economy, and overall quality of life.
