Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Calls on Public to Fight Online Gambling

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police continue to strengthen efforts to combat online gambling activities, which have become increasingly widespread amid the rapid growth of digital technology. The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief, AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR, emphasized that online gambling is not a means to achieve success or obtain quick financial gains.

The police chief explained that digital gambling practices instead bring harmful impacts to people's lives. In addition to causing financial losses, online gambling can damage a person's future and potentially lead individuals into legal problems.

"This activity reflects the commitment of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police to educate the public so they do not become involved in online gambling practices that can harm themselves and their families," said AKBP Rosef Efendi.

Public Education as a Preventive Measure

The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police prioritize public education as a preventive measure to reduce the spread of online gambling, which is now easily accessible through various digital platforms. According to police assessments, the public needs strong awareness so they are not easily influenced by promises of instant profits that actually carry significant risks.

Through messages displayed on campaign posters, the police chief urged the entire community to make the rejection of online gambling a shared commitment. Gambling not only affects economic conditions but can also damage family relationships, trigger debt problems, and create psychological pressures such as depression and hopelessness.

The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police reminded the public that the profits offered by online gambling are not comparable to the potential losses that may follow. From the perspective of Islamic teachings, all forms of gambling are prohibited because they contain the element of "Maisir," referring to obtaining benefits through improper means. Reports can be submitted through the police emergency number 110 so law enforcement officers can respond quickly in accordance with applicable legal regulations.

The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police believe that cooperation between law enforcement officers, religious leaders, community representatives, and all members of society is the key to stopping the spread of online gambling.
