NIAS | INDATANEWS.COM - The Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, will temporarily establish his office on the Nias Islands starting this week. The presence of the provincial leader in the island region is part of efforts to bring government services closer to the community while ensuring that development programs are implemented in accordance with the needs of the people.
Bobby announced his plan to work from the Nias Islands on Monday, July 13, 2026, while speaking to journalists at the North Sumatra Governor's Office on Jalan Diponegoro, Medan. During his stay in the region, Bobby will carry out various work programs, including reviewing strategic sectors and holding direct discussions with residents.The program of temporarily working from different regions is one of the initiatives being implemented by Bobby Nasution together with the North Sumatra Provincial Government. Through these activities, the government aims to establish closer leadership with direct interaction with the people while gaining firsthand insight into the challenges faced by each region.
"Later, the field-based working arrangement will be carried out alternately with the deputy governor," Bobby said.
The decision to work from the Nias Islands reflects Bobby Nasution's commitment to directly monitor development progress and public services in the region. During his working visit, Bobby will visit several areas across the Nias Islands throughout July 2026.
During these visits, Bobby will review the education sector and inspect several schools. The inspections aim to ensure that educational infrastructure and supporting facilities are available to improve the learning process for students.The education sector is one of the priority programs of the North Sumatra Provincial Government. Therefore, the government continues to evaluate educational facilities so that the quality of education services can continue to improve in all areas, including island regions.
In addition to inspecting educational facilities, Bobby will also gather information directly from residents and local governments to identify key development priorities and challenges faced by communities on the ground.Based on previous assessments, the government has implemented several follow-up measures through infrastructure development projects and repair works. One of the completed projects is the Idano Noyo Bridge.
Adequate infrastructure plays an important role in improving connectivity between communities across the Nias Islands. With better transportation networks, economic activities, public services and connections between regions are expected to continue growing.Besides infrastructure, Bobby will also inspect healthcare facilities. The review aims to ensure that residents receive proper healthcare services while identifying areas requiring improvement in medical facilities directly from the field.

The governor's direct presence among the people is expected to strengthen communication between the government and citizens. By listening firsthand to public concerns, the government can formulate policies that are more responsive to regional needs.
As part of his efforts to build closer relations with the community, Bobby also plans to hold a joint film event with residents in Gunungsitoli City.Through his working visit to the Nias Islands, Bobby Nasution aims to ensure that the government remains directly accessible to the people.
