JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM- Officers from Polsek Kota Baru have arrested three men suspected of being involved in a motorcycle theft at the Oko Laundry premises on Jalan Sunan Drajat, RT 01, Kenali Asam Bawah Village, Kota Baru District, Jambi. Police solved the case following an investigation launched after a report was filed by the victim.
The theft occurred on Friday, August 7, 2026, at around 11:30 a.m. WIB. The victim, 26-year-old Emita Sari, was at her workplace at the time. Earlier, at around 8:00 a.m., she had parked her black Honda Beat motorcycle, bearing registration number BH 5124 AX, on the premises of her workplace.When she parked the motorcycle, the woman left the ignition key in the ignition switch. The perpetrators allegedly took advantage of the situation and fled with the victim's motorcycle.
At around 11:30 a.m., the victim noticed three men she did not recognize near the scene. Based on the sequence of events reconstructed by police, one of the men approached the victim's motorcycle and got on it. The other two men were on another motorcycle and were simultaneously monitoring the situation.When the victim realized that her motorcycle was about to be stolen, she immediately called for help and attempted to pursue the suspects. However, the three men managed to flee the scene with the victim's Honda Beat.
After receiving the report, investigators from the criminal investigation unit of Polsek Kota Baru immediately launched an investigation. The case investigation was led by the Head of Polsek Kota Baru, Kompol Helrawaty Siregar, S.H.
Officers gathered information at the scene, examined various leads and traced the whereabouts of the suspected perpetrators. During the investigation, police received information indicating that one of the suspects had been traced toward the SPBU Mayang Mangurai gas station in Alam Barajo District, Jambi.The officers then went to the location. There, police arrested Seftian Arafik while he was riding the victim's Honda Beat motorcycle.
Following Seftian Arafik's arrest, investigators continued their examination to determine the involvement of other suspected perpetrators. Further investigation led police to information regarding the whereabouts of two other individuals who were allegedly involved in the theft.Police subsequently went to a private residence on Jalan H. Ibrahim in Amuntai Residential Area, RT 019, Rawa Sari Village, Alam Barajo District, Jambi. Officers arrested two additional individuals at the location.
With the arrests, a total of three people are now being held as suspects in the motorcycle theft case, known locally as Curanmor.
As part of the investigation, police seized several pieces of evidence. These included the victim's black Honda Beat bearing registration number BH 5124 AX, along with its BPKB and STNK vehicle documents.
Police also secured CCTV footage stored on a USB flash drive. The recording is considered one of the pieces of evidence related to the motorcycle theft at the Oko Laundry premises.Officers also seized a gray-and-black Yamaha Vision bearing registration number BH 2646 ZC. According to police, the motorcycle was allegedly used by the perpetrators as transportation while carrying out the theft.
In addition, officers seized a pair of long dark-blue jeans which, according to police, had been worn by one of the suspects during the theft.Police said the victim suffered an estimated financial loss of approximately Rp8 million as a result of the theft.
Investigators from Polsek Kota Baru are treating the case as a criminal offense involving theft. Police are applying Article 477 of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).
According to the investigation documents, the provision carries a maximum penalty of seven years' imprisonment or a Category V fine of up to Rp500 million.Investigators are currently continuing the criminal proceedings against the three suspects. Police are completing the investigation files, questioning witnesses and suspects, securing evidence, and coordinating with the public prosecutor or the relevant prosecutor (JPU) regarding the preparation of the case file.
Police are also continuing to investigate the respective roles of the three suspects in the motorcycle theft. Investigators are ensuring that the case is handled in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.The case was uncovered after the victim reported that her Honda Beat had disappeared from her workplace. Police subsequently followed leads concerning the whereabouts of the motorcycle and eventually arrested three people suspected of being involved in the theft. (IDNC)
