JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - The Jambi Provincial Police (Polda Jambi) has mobilized a total of 1,848 personnel from various units to secure the Presisi Merdeka Run (PMR) 2026. The event will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Garuda Square in front of the Jambi Governor's Office. The security operation involves police personnel and various relevant agencies to ensure that all event activities are carried out safely, orderly, smoothly and with a strong emphasis on public service.
The readiness of the personnel was demonstrated during a roll call for the Presisi Merdeka Run 2026 security operation on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Green Field of the Jambi City Police Headquarters (Mapolresta Jambi). Jambi Provincial Police Chief Inspector General Krisno H. Siregar personally led the roll call.During the roll call, Jambi City Police Operations Division Chief Police Commissioner Yumika Putra served as the ceremony commander. Also in attendance were Jambi Provincial Police Deputy Chief Brigadier General Benny Ali, senior officers from Polda Jambi, the Jambi City Police Chief, senior officers from Jambi City Police, and the heads of the various police sectors.
The security personnel consist of 740 officers from Polda Jambi, 714 officers from Jambi City Police, and 394 personnel from various participating agencies. This brings the total number of personnel deployed to secure PMR 2026 to 1,848."The Presisi Merdeka Run 2026 is being held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. This year marks the second edition of the Presisi Merdeka Run. Last year's event proceeded smoothly," the police chief said.
According to Krisno, PMR 2026 has received an enthusiastic response from the public. As of Saturday, August 8, 2026, a total of 8,750 participants had registered for the sporting event.Of that number, 7,300 participants registered for the 5-kilometer race, 805 for the 10-kilometer race, and 645 for the 21-kilometer race.
"Public enthusiasm is tremendous. This shows that Jambi Province is a safe and welcoming region with strong potential to host various events at the national level," he said. The large number of participants, the police chief continued, demonstrates the public's strong interest in sports while also highlighting Jambi's potential as a region capable of hosting major events.
However, PMR 2026 is not solely about sports and celebrations marking the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. The event also provides Jambi with an opportunity to introduce various regional potentials to the public and participants. These include the tourism sector, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as other strengths of Jambi Province.
To secure PMR 2026, the Jambi police chief called on all personnel to balance two key interests. On the one hand, the safety, security and comfort of the public and participants must be ensured. On the other hand, the activities and mobility of residents must continue with as little disruption as possible.
"Provide the public with humane, friendly and prompt service, especially citizens who need information or are affected by traffic diversions and road closures around the event route," he said. The police chief also instructed the relevant units to keep the Call Center 110 emergency service operational throughout the event. Reports from the public must be handled promptly, particularly in situations requiring police intervention.
In addition to public service, deployed personnel must also identify potential disruptions to public security and order at an early stage. The police chief emphasized the importance of preventive measures so that potential disturbances can be addressed before they develop into problems that could disrupt the event."Identify potential disruptions to public security and order at an early stage, protect the public and ensure that all event activities proceed safely and smoothly," the police chief said.
The police chief subsequently instructed all personnel to fully understand their respective duties and responsibilities. These include their assigned positions, security routes, coordination and reporting procedures, as well as measures to be taken if disturbances or problems occur at the scene. These instructions are an important part of the security plan, as PMR 2026 involves thousands of participants and takes place along several roads that are also part of the public's daily traffic network. Therefore, personnel must not only secure the running event but also take into account its potential impact on traffic and residents' mobility.
"Carry out the security measures consistently until the very end. Ensure safety, order and smooth operations while maintaining a humane approach. Act quickly and precisely, and make safety the top priority in every task," the police chief said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Public Relations Division of Polda Jambi Police Commissioner Erlan Munaji said the deployment of 1,848 personnel demonstrates the commitment of Polda Jambi and all participating agencies to comprehensively secure PMR 2026.
According to Erlan, the security plan is not focused solely on participants and the race route. Police are also paying particular attention to residents whose activities could be affected during the event, especially as a result of traffic diversions and road closures along the PMR route."Polda Jambi wants the presence of personnel in the field to genuinely be felt as a form of public service. Residents must continue to receive security, clear information and humane service," he said.
Erlan urged the public to pay attention to official information regarding traffic arrangements and traffic-control measures in effect during PMR 2026. Residents are also encouraged to follow the instructions of personnel in the field so that traffic management remains orderly and the safety of road users is not compromised.Police are aware that an event involving several thousand participants can affect residents' daily activities. Therefore, Polda Jambi considers public service and communication with residents to be essential components of its security strategy.
"On behalf of Polda Jambi, we ask for the public's understanding and apologize if the implementation of the Presisi Merdeka Run 2026 causes some disruption to residents' activities due to traffic diversions or road closures. All measures are intended to ensure everyone's safety and the smooth running of the event," he said. With the support of 1,848 personnel and coordination with regional governments and participating agencies, Polda Jambi aims to ensure that all activities related to the Presisi Merdeka Run 2026 proceed safely and smoothly. The security measures are also intended to provide participants with a positive experience while ensuring the comfort of residents along the event route.
The participation of thousands of people in PMR 2026 gives Jambi Province an opportunity to demonstrate its ability to host major events. In addition to commemorating the 81st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the event also creates an opportunity to promote the province's tourism potential and MSMEs to visitors and participants.
