DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo, SS, has called on the public, particularly the younger generation, to understand the history of the country and the development of the Indonesian nation. He said this was an important step toward strengthening national unity, preserving the values of Pancasila, and countering various provocations that could disrupt social life.
The call was made when the Deli Serdang Deputy Regent attended a joint screening of the film G30S/PKI. The event was organized by the management board of the Nurul Hidayah Mosque (BKM) in cooperation with the Deli Serdang Regency Government at the Nurul Hidayah Mosque complex in the Pasar Raya MMTC area, Medan Estate Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, on Wednesday evening, September 30, 2026.
The joint film screening provided the public with an opportunity to revisit history and reflect on various events that have shaped the course of the Indonesian nation. The Deli Serdang Regency Government supported the event, which was attended by government representatives, mosque administrators, religious leaders, community figures, young people, and members of the public.
"It is important to look back at history and remember it so that we do not forget. We hope this event will strengthen resilience, confidence in Pancasila, the noble values of our nation, as well as faith and religion," said Lom Lom.
Lom Lom emphasized the importance of strong historical awareness among the younger generation. In his view, the next generation needs to know about various events of the past so that they can learn from them and understand the importance of unity in the life of the nation and state.
He explained that strengthening Pancasila values must go hand in hand with moral and religious education. In this way, the public would not only have an understanding of the country's history but also a foundation for dealing with diverse information, differences of opinion, and potential provocations within society.
On the occasion, Lom Lom also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the regional government and various elements of society. According to him, places of worship are not solely venues for religious observance but can also serve as places to build relationships, strengthen social cohesion, and provide social support to the community.
"The government basically exists to serve the public and support them through regulations and various forms of assistance. Hopefully, this cooperation will become a starting point that can continue to be developed," he said.
According to Lom Lom, the participation of various elements of society in the event demonstrated that maintaining unity requires collective action. The regional government, ulema, mosque administrators, community leaders, young people, and the public can each contribute according to their respective capacities.
He expressed his appreciation to the BKM of Nurul Hidayah Mosque and everyone involved in supporting the joint film screening. Lom Lom hoped that similar events in the future would attract even greater public participation and further strengthen relations between the regional government and the community.

Acting Head of the Deli Serdang National Unity and Political Agency (Kesbangpol), Anwar Sadat Siregar, explained that the joint film screening resulted from communication between the regency leadership and the management of Nurul Hidayah Mosque.
The Deli Serdang Regency Government subsequently supported the event and provided various facilities needed for its implementation. These included carpets, a television, banners, and other technical and organizational equipment for the event at the mosque complex.
Anwar said the event provided an opportunity to reintroduce the country's history to the public. In his view, the Indonesian nation has experienced various trials and challenges throughout its historical journey. Therefore, society must draw appropriate lessons from these events.
"Our nation has had to go through trials and challenges several times. Therefore, history must serve as a lesson for all of us," he said.
He hoped that the direct participation of the public in such an event would give the younger generation a better understanding of the importance of national unity and cohesion. At the same time, events of this kind could strengthen communication between the regional government and the community.
The regional government's support also demonstrates the importance of joint efforts to build social resilience. The government cannot accomplish this task alone but requires the participation of religious leaders, community figures, social organizations, young people, and other sections of society.

The chairman of the BKM of Nurul Hidayah Mosque, Ibrahim Sinambela, expressed his gratitude to the Deli Serdang Regency Government for its support for the joint film screening. He explained that this year's event was held on a larger scale than previous editions.
According to Ibrahim, the presence of the Deli Serdang Deputy Regent together with representatives of the regional government provided additional motivation for the BKM organizers and the participating community.
"Alhamdulillah, this year we are very grateful and moved because the Deputy Regent, together with representatives of the Deli Serdang Regency Government, could attend and support this event," he said.
Ibrahim hoped that the event would not merely be understood as a joint film screening but would also serve as a space for the public to reflect on the nation's history. In particular, he hoped the younger generation would learn appropriate lessons from history and increasingly understand the importance of unity and their commitment to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
In his view, public participation in events with historical and national themes could provide an opportunity to strengthen social relations. In particular, holding the event in the mosque's surroundings brought together various groups of society in an atmosphere of togetherness.
The joint screening of the film G30S/PKI at Nurul Hidayah Mosque was also attended by representatives of various Regional Government Organizations (OPD) of Deli Serdang, the head of Percut Sei Tuan District, religious leaders, community figures, youth representatives, representatives of alliances of Islamic social organizations, as well as residents and members of the Nurul Hidayah Mosque community.
The presence of various social groups demonstrated public support for an event with a historical and national focus. Through the event, participants were invited to revisit the course of national history while maintaining communication and togetherness within society.
For the Deli Serdang Regency Government, such an event is also part of efforts to expand cooperation with the community. The regional government hopes that the cooperation already established can continue to develop through various activities that benefit the public, strengthen social relations, and promote shared awareness of maintaining the unity and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
