ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Aceh Tengah Police (Polres Aceh Tengah) is intensifying communication with religious leaders to identify potential security disturbances at an early stage while maintaining public safety and order. The move is part of the police's efforts to strengthen cooperation with various segments of society, particularly in addressing potential social issues that could develop into disturbances of public security and order.
Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., together with senior officers from the Aceh Tengah Police, conducted visits and meetings with several religious leaders across Aceh Tengah on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.As part of the activities, the police chief visited five locations in the districts of Lut Tawar, Pegasing, and Bies. The meetings were aimed not only at maintaining and strengthening mutual relations, but also at creating direct dialogue between the police and religious leaders.
Through the dialogue, the Aceh Tengah Police was able to gain first-hand insight into developments within the community. At the same time, police officers listened to residents' concerns and strengthened communication channels so that emerging issues could be identified and addressed early, before they escalated."Religious leaders are strategic partners of the Indonesian National Police. We want communication to remain continuous so that every issue that emerges can be identified early and resolved through a persuasive approach," Taufiq said.
According to Taufiq, open communication between police and religious leaders can make an important contribution to preventing social issues from escalating. Through this approach, police efforts do not rely solely on law enforcement measures, but also place emphasis on persuasion and dialogue.Religious leaders also hold an important position in maintaining calm within the community. In this capacity, they can encourage people to resolve problems through tolerance, mutual respect, and deliberation.
Furthermore, religious leaders can serve as mediators when information emerges that could potentially trigger unrest within the community. This can help residents develop a more balanced understanding of an issue and make them less susceptible to unverified information.
Taufiq expressed hope that religious leaders would continue to strengthen their role as a "Cooling System" within the community. This function is particularly important in maintaining calm when issues arise that could lead to division or unrest.
In his view, the public must critically assess information, particularly content circulated through social media. Information should not be immediately believed or disseminated before its accuracy has been verified."Through good communication, we can prevent potential problems before they develop into disturbances of public safety and order," he said.
Efforts to increase engagement with religious leaders also demonstrate that the Aceh Tengah Police considers prevention an important component of maintaining security. Police are working to identify various issues as early as possible so that appropriate measures can be taken before they develop into conflicts. In this context, the meetings also serve to strengthen mutual trust between the police and the community. Good relations can help both sides exchange information more easily, identify problems together, and work collectively to find solutions.

The distribution of social assistance not only reflects concern for the community's circumstances, but is also part of efforts to strengthen ties between the police and various social groups. Closer relations are expected to facilitate more open communication in jointly maintaining security in Aceh Tengah.
The police chief emphasized that public safety and order cannot be maintained by the police alone. All elements of society share responsibility for creating a safe, peaceful, and stable environment."Public safety and order are not solely the responsibility of the police. It requires the shared responsibility of all elements of society to ensure that Aceh Tengah remains safe, peaceful, and stable," Taufiq said.
Cooperation between the Indonesian National Police and religious leaders is part of this approach. The police provide space for dialogue, while religious leaders can help deliver messages that promote social cohesion and encourage residents not to be easily provoked.Through the visits and meetings, the Aceh Tengah Police reaffirmed that maintaining security is not solely associated with law enforcement measures. Police must also build trust, listen to the community, strengthen communication, and encourage public participation from the earliest signs of potential problems.
The approach is intended to establish a stronger community-level prevention system. By involving religious leaders and other elements of society, potential disturbances to public safety and order can be identified more quickly and addressed through a persuasive approach.Ultimately, cooperation between the police, religious leaders, and the community is an important component in keeping Aceh Tengah safe and stable. Maintaining continuous communication is also expected to strengthen mutual trust and encourage people to work together to preserve peace across the region. (IDNC)
