TAKE FIRM ACTION AGAINST PERPETRATORS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE: Aceh Tengah Police reaffirm their commitment to taking firm action against perpetrators of violence against children and ensuring victim protection and care.

ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ Police in Aceh Tengah have arrested a 60-year-old man identified by the initial R from Jagong Jeget District, on suspicion of involvement in a sexual offense against a five-year-old girl.

The arrest was carried out on Friday, April 24, 2026, at around 10:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), shortly after authorities received a public report earlier that day.

Following a report submitted by the victim's family, officers from the Jagong Jeget Police Station immediately launched an investigation. Acting quickly on the information provided, police were able to locate and apprehend the suspect on the same evening.

Authorities confirmed that the rapid response played a crucial role in resolving the case promptly.

Incident Occurred in Residential Area

Preliminary findings indicate that the alleged incident took place on Monday, April 20, 2026, at around 6:00 p.m. WIB, in the suspect's residential environment.

Suspect Confesses, Investigation Ongoing

During initial questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the offense. He was later taken into custody and transferred to the Aceh Tengah Police detention facility before being handed over to the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) for further handling.

"The suspect has been detained and is currently undergoing an ongoing investigation process," police stated.

Investigators are continuing to compile case files, conduct witness interviews, and coordinate with the Aceh Tengah Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD PPA) as well as the public prosecutor's office.

The suspect is being charged under Article 50 in conjunction with Article 47 of Aceh Qanun No. 12/2025, which amends Qanun No. 6/2014 concerning Jinayat law.
