DELI SERDANG TP PKK WINS FIRST PRIZE IN THE 2026 KILAS VLOG COMPETITION: Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan, Chairwoman of the Deli Serdang Regency TP PKK, receives the trophy for first place in the 2026 provincial-level KILAS vlog competition in North Sumatra from Kahiyang Ayu Bobby Nasution, Chairwoman of the North Sumatra Provincial TP PKK, in Medan on Wednesday, 21 October 2026.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM- The Family Welfare Empowerment Movement (TP PKK) of Deli Serdang Regency has won first prize in the 2026 provincial-level KILAS vlog competition in North Sumatra. The competition, entitled "Towards an Indonesian Family That Protects Children from Sexual Violence", aims to raise awareness of preventing sexual violence against children and encourage families to play an active role through creative public awareness campaigns.

Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan, Chairwoman of the Deli Serdang Regency TP PKK, received the winner's trophy on Wednesday evening, 21 October 2026, at an event held in the ballroom of the Grand Mercure Maha Cipta Medan Angkasa. The award was presented by Kahiyang Ayu Bobby Nasution, Chairwoman of the North Sumatra Provincial TP PKK.

Jelita attended the event accompanied by Asniar Lom Lom Suwondo, the first expert adviser to the Deli Serdang Regency TP PKK, the organisation's secretary and other representatives.

The achievement has encouraged the Deli Serdang TP PKK to expand its public awareness initiatives on the importance of protecting children from sexual violence. Through creative communication approaches, the organisation hopes to encourage families to pay greater attention to children's safety and create an environment where they can grow and develop securely.

Creative Campaigns to Protect Children

Jelita praised the hard work and commitment of all Deli Serdang TP PKK members who contributed to the achievement. She said the award represented not only success in the competition but also an incentive to strengthen the family's role in preventing sexual violence against children.

"I would like to thank all Deli Serdang TP PKK members who have worked hard and contributed to this achievement. May this award encourage us to remain committed, work creatively and strengthen the family's role in protecting children from sexual violence," she said.

The KILAS vlog competition provides a platform for communicating child protection messages through audiovisual media that are accessible and easy for the public to understand. The video format allows educational content to be presented in an engaging way, helping reach families from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

Through this campaign, the Deli Serdang TP PKK seeks to ensure that child protection is not regarded as the responsibility of individuals or institutions alone. Parents, other family members, local communities and society as a whole all have an important role to play in raising awareness of child protection and creating safe environments for children.

Families Play a Crucial Role

Preventing sexual violence requires continuous attention and active family involvement. Parents should encourage open communication with their children, teach them about personal boundaries in an age-appropriate manner and help them recognise potentially dangerous or unsafe situations.

Families must also create an environment in which children can speak without fear about distressing experiences or situations that make them uncomfortable or afraid. Listening attentively and providing reliable protection are essential to building children's trust in the adults who guide and support them.

In this regard, PKK members can expand their awareness initiatives through family empowerment programmes and direct engagement with the public. Ongoing educational activities can help families better understand preventive measures and strengthen awareness of children's safety both at home and outside the family environment.

Winning first prize at provincial level in North Sumatra is expected to provide further motivation for Deli Serdang TP PKK members to develop their awareness campaigns and adapt them to the needs of the community.

Strengthening Public Awareness and Education

Jelita emphasised that the Deli Serdang TP PKK would continue its public awareness and information activities on child protection. The aim is to strengthen families' understanding of the importance of preventing sexual violence and ensure that children grow up in safe, comfortable and protective environments.

In the future, efforts to expand public education will go hand in hand with greater community involvement. The focus will be on recognising the risks of sexual violence at an early stage and improving public understanding of child protection. Families should also know which authorities or organisations to contact if they identify signs of abuse or encounter situations that threaten a child's safety.

The achievement at the 2026 KILAS vlog competition provides the Deli Serdang TP PKK with an opportunity to continue its child protection campaign. The organisation intends to deliver messages that are easy to understand and practical to apply in everyday life.

Through cooperation between PKK members and families, efforts to create safer environments for children can be further strengthened. Child protection means more than preventing violence; it also means ensuring that every child has the opportunity to develop in an environment that provides safety, support and care.

The award also highlights the importance of creative public communication in raising awareness of child protection. Such approaches can help prevention messages reach more families and encourage practical measures to protect children throughout society. (IDNC)
