Police Assist Flood Victims, Support Students in Aceh Tengah

ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ Officers from the Linge Police Sector (Polsek Linge) in Aceh Tengah Regency demonstrated solidarity with flood-affected residents through direct field assistance and social outreach on Thursday, April 23, 2026. The initiative took place in Reje Payung Village, Linge District, where communities continue to struggle with the aftermath of severe flooding.

Police personnel were deployed on-site to help residents carry out daily activities despite limited mobility caused by damaged infrastructure. One of the main focuses was assisting people crossing a damaged temporary suspension bridge, which had been heavily impacted by the flood.

Assisting Safe Crossings

Working together with local residents, officers secured the bridge crossing by installing a steel sling cable to improve safety. This enabled villagers, including motorcyclists, to continue using the critical access route.

The measure is seen as a rapid response by the police to ensure mobility and safety amid disrupted infrastructure conditions.

Encouraging Students in Emergency Classrooms

In addition to assisting residents, officers also visited students of SD Negeri 10 Linge Takengon, who have been forced to continue their studies in an emergency tent following the disaster.

During the visit, police officers provided encouragement and motivation to the children, urging them to remain enthusiastic about learning despite challenging circumstances. Their presence also served as psychological support for students affected by the disaster.

Commitment to Community Recovery

Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, represented by Linge Police Chief Iptu Aidil Novrizal, emphasized that the police presence reflects the government's commitment to supporting communities during post-disaster recovery.

"We are committed to helping residents, both in practical ways such as ensuring safe crossings and through moral support for children so they remain motivated to learn. This is part of our responsibility to ensure people feel safe and not abandoned," said Iptu Aidil Novrizal.

He added that Polsek Linge will continue to monitor the situation and carry out humanitarian efforts until conditions fully stabilize. (IDNC)
