ACEH TENGAH POLICE CHIEF URGES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND ROAD DISCIPLINE Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo delivers messages on environmental protection, the dangers of usurious lending, vehicle theft prevention and road safety during the “Jumat Keliling” programme at Ruhama Mosque on Friday, 23 October 2026.

ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., has urged residents to protect nature, keep their surroundings clean, avoid usurious lending and improve road discipline. He delivered the message on Friday, 23 October 2026, during a "Jumat Keliling" (Mobile Friday) programme at Ruhama Mosque in Aceh Tengah.

The event provides an opportunity for the police to strengthen their relationship with the public, deliver messages about public safety and order, and listen directly to residents' concerns and complaints. Through the programme, which promotes policing in partnership with the community, Aceh Tengah Police are seeking to encourage open communication and closer cooperation with residents to maintain safety in their neighbourhoods.

Protecting Nature and Avoiding Debt Traps

In his address, Teguh emphasised that protecting nature and keeping the environment clean are shared responsibilities. He encouraged residents to develop greater environmental awareness through regular clean-up activities and to avoid actions that could damage the natural environment.

AKBP Teguh also warned residents against usurious lending and loans carrying high interest rates. He said debts that exceed borrowers' financial means could lead to economic hardship and trigger conflicts within the community.

He referred to Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 275, in which Allah SWT permits trade but prohibits usury. This religious teaching, he said, should remind residents to consider the potential risks before taking out loans, understand their repayment obligations fully and avoid financial decisions that could further undermine their families' economic circumstances.

AKBP Teguh also cautioned that unresolved debt problems could escalate into social conflicts. Disputes might even result in borrowers having their property seized, potentially disrupting public safety and order. He therefore urged residents to resolve problems calmly, prioritise dialogue and refrain from actions that could harm others.

Preventing Vehicle Theft and Following Traffic Rules

Alongside his messages on environmental protection and financial difficulties, the police chief urged residents to take greater precautions against motor vehicle theft. He advised them to lock their vehicles securely, choose safe parking areas and avoid giving potential offenders opportunities to steal.

AKBP Teguh also called on all road users to set a good example by prioritising road safety. He stressed the importance of wearing helmets, carrying complete vehicle documents and complying with all traffic regulations.

"Wear a helmet, carry all the required vehicle documents and obey traffic rules. Discipline on the road is essential to preventing accidents that can result in fatalities or permanent injuries," he said.

AKBP Teguh also reminded residents that the "Operasi Patuh" traffic enforcement operation was scheduled to begin on Monday, 26 October 2026. He urged all drivers to check that their vehicles were roadworthy and properly equipped before setting off, ensure they had the necessary documents and comply with all traffic regulations.

These reminders are intended to strengthen public awareness that road safety is the responsibility of every road user. Following traffic regulations protects not only drivers themselves but also their passengers and other people using the roads.

'Jumat Keliling' Strengthens Police-Community Relations

Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, through the Head of Public Relations, AKP Rasimin, explained that "Jumat Keliling" is one of the ways police officers can engage directly with the community. During these events, officers deliver messages about public safety and order while listening to residents' concerns, suggestions and complaints.

This direct exchange gives people an opportunity to raise issues affecting their local neighbourhoods. Ongoing communication helps the police better understand community needs and encourages joint efforts to find solutions to existing problems.

Aceh Tengah Police also carry out similar activities through local police station chiefs and their personnel in their respective jurisdictions. These initiatives aim to reach more residents, deepen cooperation between the police and the public, and help maintain safe and stable conditions throughout the region.

Through "Jumat Keliling", Aceh Tengah Police combine messages on environmental protection, caution in dealing with social and financial problems, and road safety with an approach closely connected to residents' everyday lives. Active public participation is expected to make an important contribution to building a clean, safe, orderly and harmonious community. (IDNC)
