DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – The Deli Serdang Regency Government has confirmed that prices of essential commodities remain stable ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri. Deli Serdang Regional Secretary Dedi Maswardy, accompanied by the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), conducted surprise inspections on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Pasar Bakaran Batu in Lubuk Pakam District and Mawar Supermarket in Tanjung Morawa.
The inspection was aimed at ensuring food availability and maintaining price stability ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.According to the TPID, prices of several key food commodities are currently stable. Red chili peppers are priced at around Rp31,000 per kilogram, onions at Rp38,000 per kilogram, non-subsidized rice at approximately Rp14,000 per kilogram, while SPHP rice is sold for Rp56,500 per sack.

"Today, together with the team, we inspected the market to monitor essential commodity prices ahead of Eid al-Adha. Based on our discussions with traders, prices remain within a normal and controlled range," said Dedi Maswardy.
He added that the regional government continuously monitors food price developments, especially ahead of major religious holidays, to anticipate potential price spikes."If significant price increases occur, the government will carry out market operations to stabilize supply and prices," he stated.

In addition to monitoring prices, the regional secretary also inspected infrastructure conditions and market order at Pasar Bakaran Batu. The Deli Serdang Government plans to gradually modernize the traditional market, including the construction of around 30 new kiosks for vendors currently operating outside the market area.

TPID Encourages Use of Local Products
Following the inspection at the traditional market, the TPID continued its visit to Mawar Supermarket in Tanjung Morawa. During the inspection, officials assessed food supply conditions and encouraged the supermarket management to prioritize local products from Deli Serdang.According to Dedi Maswardy, the initiative aims to strengthen the regional economy and support the marketing of local agricultural products, including chili peppers, poultry, tomatoes, and other commodities.

The inspection also found that prices of staple foods, chili peppers, and onions at the supermarket remain stable and affordable for consumers.

The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) also participated in the inspection by checking various food products to ensure that no expired or unauthorized goods were being sold in the market.
"Together with BPOM, we are ensuring food safety so the public is protected from unfit products," Dedi Maswardy explained.The Deli Serdang Government stated that inspections will continue regularly to maintain price stability, secure food supplies, and ensure food safety throughout the region.
