DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Regent of Deli Serdang, Asri Ludin Tambunan, conducted an official visit to SDN 108076 Tanjung Selamat in Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, North Sumatra, Indonesia, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The visit aimed to assess the school's facilities and the need for additional teaching staff.

School Buildings Require Urgent Repairs

During the inspection, the Regent found that the school's facilities were in poor condition. Doors, ceilings, and the prayer room (musala) require immediate renovation. Local authorities emphasized that these improvements are essential to ensure that teaching and learning activities are not disrupted.

School Principal Rahmah Purba explained that the school, which has 100 students, is supported by only seven teachers. She requested that, in addition to renovations, the government provide additional teachers, especially for religious studies.

"I am grateful for the planned renovations, but we urgently need one Christian and one Islamic religious teacher so that teaching can run effectively," said Rahmah.

Local Government Acts Quickly

Responding to the school's request, Regent Asri Ludin instructed the Education Department to act promptly.

Accompanied by TP PKK Chairperson Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan and Education Director Suparno, Asri Ludin assured that school renovations would begin without delay.

"Conditions like these cannot be left unattended. Damaged classrooms will be renovated, including doors, ceilings, and the prayer room. We will also improve the canteen, library, and prepare a laboratory," the Regent said.

He also reminded the school to use School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds appropriately.

"BOS funds should be used for maintaining facilities, not misused. Proper use ensures that students truly benefit," Asri Ludin added.

He encouraged teachers to maintain high performance; "Wherever you teach, good performance leads to good results. For part-time teachers (PPPK), this year there is an opportunity to become full-time if their performance is excellent."

Earlier, the Regent visited SD 101772 in Tanjung Selamat, which frequently floods during heavy rain. He pledged that the government would improve drainage around the school and remove structures obstructing water flow.
