LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., personally directed traffic and distributed helmets to road users on the morning of Monday, 2 November 2026. The initiative took place at the Simpang Kampung Raja junction on the Trans-Sumatra Highway (Jalinsum), Kotapinang, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
The initiative forms part of police efforts to raise awareness of road safety through direct public service, education and exemplary conduct. The police chief not only helped maintain the flow of traffic but also spoke with road users, reminding them to comply with traffic regulations. The operation began at around 7.30 am local time and targeted road users travelling to their morning activities as traffic gradually increased. Accompanied by the head of the traffic control unit, Ipda Surianto Silalahi, and other Labuhanbatu Selatan traffic police officers, Rosef directed vehicles to maintain order, safety and a smooth flow of traffic.
During the operation, the police chief handed helmets to motorcyclists to demonstrate his concern for road users' safety. The initiative highlights that preventing road accidents cannot rely solely on sanctions but also requires education and public participation."People's safety on the road is our top priority. We urge all road users to obey traffic regulations at all times, wear helmets when riding motorcycles, and observe traffic signs and rules.
Do not disregard your own safety or that of others," he emphasised.AKBP Rosef reminded motorcyclists that wearing a helmet certified under Indonesia's National Standard (SNI) was an important measure to reduce the risk of serious head injuries in the event of an accident. Motorcyclists should therefore regard helmets as essential safety equipment rather than merely an accessory for riding.
Observing traffic signs and regulations should be as routine as using protective equipment. Road users must understand that every decision made on the road can affect their own safety and that of others.According to Rosef, road safety awareness must grow among individuals. Members of the public should follow the rules even when no police officers are present. In this way, disciplined road behaviour can become an everyday habit.

"Through simple measures such as directing traffic and distributing these helmets, we hope the public will gain a better understanding of the importance of road safety.
The police are here to serve, protect and care for the community," he added. This approach demonstrates that police services can be delivered through simple initiatives whose impact is immediately felt by the public. Traffic management during peak hours, direct engagement with road users and helmet distribution are all part of efforts to foster a culture of road safety and compliance.
The presence of police officers on the road also gives members of the public an opportunity to receive safety advice directly. Personal engagement is intended to strengthen public trust while encouraging greater willingness to comply with traffic regulations.
The Simpang Kampung Raja junction on the Trans-Sumatra Highway is an area where maintaining smooth traffic flow requires particular attention. During the morning rush hour, road users' behaviour, compliance with traffic signs and use of safety equipment significantly influence traffic conditions.
Safety and smooth traffic flow must be ensured through the joint efforts of officers and the public. Road users should prioritise safety, maintain a safe following distance, wear compliant helmets and obey the applicable traffic regulations.Road safety education must also be carried out continuously and reach different sections of the community. A shared awareness of safety is essential to reducing the risk of accidents, particularly in areas where traffic volumes increase at certain times.
According to the operation's report, security conditions, as well as safety, order and traffic flow (Kamseltibcar Lantas), around the Simpang Kampung Raja junction remained stable, with traffic moving smoothly throughout the operation. The initiative also highlights the commitment of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police to delivering precise and community-oriented policing in line with the Presisi concept through practical action, care and a humane approach to the public.
The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police stated that they remained committed to maintaining public safety and order (Kamtibmas). They would continue to do good, work swiftly, intelligently and consistently, and carry out their duties with sincerity. (IDNC)REPORTER: Jhon Fitra Sagala | EDITOR: Fik Sagala
