OPERATION PATUH SELIGI 2026: Barelang Police Traffic Unit officers recorded 85 traffic violations in Batam on Saturday, 31 October 2026, using mobile ETLE devices and manual traffic tickets.

BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM - The Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of Barelang Police recorded a total of 85 traffic violations during Operation Patuh Seligi 2026 on Saturday, 31 October 2026, in Batam, Riau Islands Province. Officers detected 80 violations using mobile Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) devices and issued manual traffic tickets for a further five offences.

The enforcement operation took place between 8 am and 7 pm at several locations across the jurisdiction of Barelang Police. The operation aimed to improve road users' discipline, reduce traffic violations and prevent road accidents.

The Head of the Barelang Police Traffic Unit, Kompol Afiditya Arief Wibowo, personally led the operation. On-site activities were coordinated by the Head of the Turjawali Unit, Ipda Tino Desmawanto.

The operation formed part of the police's wider efforts to strengthen public compliance with traffic regulations through targeted enforcement and direct road safety education.

Mobile ETLE Detects 80 Violations

Officers from the Barelang Police Traffic Unit took enforcement action against traffic violations identified at several locations. They employed two methods: mobile electronic traffic monitoring using handheld ETLE devices and manual traffic tickets for motorists found breaking the law.

Using mobile ETLE handheld devices, officers recorded 80 violations. The technology enabled personnel to document offences identified during patrols and carry out enforcement in accordance with applicable regulations.

In addition to electronic enforcement, officers issued five manual traffic tickets to motorists who breached traffic regulations. During the operation, the police also seized four vehicle registration certificates (Surat Tanda Nomor Kendaraan, STNK) and one driving licence (Surat Izin Mengemudi, SIM) as evidence.

The use of both methods demonstrated how the police combined technological tools with direct supervision on the roads. Officers continued to monitor offences observed in person while using electronic devices to support the documentation process.

Barelang Police emphasised that the operation reflected its commitment to enforcing traffic regulations professionally. Through these measures, the police hope road users will gain a better understanding of the importance of obeying traffic laws, not merely to avoid penalties but, above all, to protect lives and ensure road safety.

Police Step Up Road Safety Awareness

Alongside enforcement activities, officers from the Barelang Police Traffic Unit provided direct guidance to motorists and shared road safety advice. They reminded members of the public to carry the necessary vehicle documents, use appropriate safety equipment and remain mindful of their own safety and that of other road users.

The police also urged motorists to obey traffic signs, road markings, speed limits and other applicable regulations. Compliance with these rules plays an important role in preventing accidents and creating safer road conditions.

In everyday traffic, violations can increase the risk of accidents for both drivers and other road users. The police therefore encouraged the public to develop disciplined and responsible driving habits.

Operation Patuh Seligi 2026 is not solely focused on imposing penalties. It is also intended to encourage the public to understand the consequences of every traffic violation. Direct education and engagement are expected to strengthen road users' awareness and establish compliance with traffic regulations as a shared responsibility.

Barelang Police hopes consistent enforcement will deter motorists from committing traffic offences. At the same time, the police highlighted the important role the public plays in improving road safety through disciplined driving.

Regular Enforcement to Reduce Road Accidents

Through Operation Patuh Seligi 2026, Barelang Police aims to maintain security, safety, order and smooth traffic flow (Kamseltibcarlantas) throughout its jurisdiction.

The police believe enforcement and preventive measures must go hand in hand to reduce potential traffic violations and bring down the number of road accidents in Batam. Road inspections, the use of technology and the provision of safety guidance all form part of these efforts.

Overall, the operation on Saturday, 31 October 2026, proceeded safely, smoothly and under control. Barelang Police stated that it would continue its enforcement activities to maintain orderly, safe and stable traffic conditions.

In addition to urging greater discipline on the roads, Barelang Police reminded the public that they could contact the police emergency hotline on 110 if they needed police assistance, wished to submit a report or encountered disturbances to public security and order (kamtibmas).

Members of the public can use the service to report incidents requiring police intervention. The police hope effective communication between officers and the community will speed up responses to security disturbances and help create safer traffic conditions.

Barelang Police stressed that safety must remain the top priority for all road users. By obeying traffic regulations, ensuring their vehicles are properly equipped and showing consideration for others, members of the public can help make traffic in Batam more orderly.

Co-operation between the police and the public remains essential to maintaining security, safety, order and smooth traffic flow, while supporting a safe and stable public security environment throughout the jurisdiction of Barelang Police. (IDNC)
