LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM – Torgamba Police Chief, AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, conducted a direct inspection of the "Jembatan Merah Putih Presisi" bridge in Aek Torop Hamlet, Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, on Thursday (April 30, 2026).
The inspection aimed to ensure the bridge's operational feasibility while reinforcing its role in supporting local economic connectivity. The visit, which took place at around 3:30 p.m. local time, involved police personnel along with representatives from the sub-district leadership coordination forum (Forkopimcam).Ensuring Safety and Functionality

"This is not just a bridge, but a lifeline," said a local youth representative.
Previously narrow, the bridge has now been widened to allow two vehicles to pass simultaneously. This upgrade has significantly reduced traffic congestion, which had been a recurring issue in the area.

Residents of Aek Batu Village have welcomed the improvements. In the past, the bridge was considered unsafe, particularly at night, due to poor lighting and low activity in the surrounding area."We used to wait a long time and felt unsafe crossing at night. Now, we feel secure," said a local resident.

The Jembatan Merah Putih Presisi serves as a vital connection between North Sumatra and Riau provinces. It also facilitates transportation across several regions, including Labuhanbatu Selatan, Rokan Hilir, Rokan Hulu, and North Padang Lawas.
The improved infrastructure is expected to accelerate the distribution of agricultural products, enhance trade activities, and improve overall mobility for residents.The bridge construction is a collaborative effort involving the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, Torgamba Police Sector, Forkopimcam, and support from PTPN IV. The contractor is currently continuing phased concrete work on the upper structure to ensure construction quality. (IDNC)
