POLANTAS MENYAPA PROGRAM: The Labuhanbatu Selatan Traffic Police conducts the Polantas Menyapa program on Jalinsum Bloksongo, Sisumut Village, Kotapinang District, providing important road safety information to motorists and other road users.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Road safety is not only created through compliance with regulations but also through the awareness of every road user to protect themselves and others. With this commitment, the Traffic Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police continues to carry out the "Polantas Menyapa" program as an effort to build a culture of discipline and order among road users.

The activity was held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, along the Trans-Sumatra Highway (Jalinsum), specifically in the Bloksongo area, Sisumut Village, Kotapinang District. The program is part of the ongoing efforts of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police to promote traffic safety through a human-centered, communicative approach that directly engages with the community.

The Acting Head of the Traffic Safety Unit (Kanit Kamsel) of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Traffic Police, AIPDA Aidil Syah Putra, S.H., led the activity, which targeted various groups of road users. These included public transportation drivers, truck drivers, motorcycle riders, and residents traveling along the vital transportation route.

Direct Education to Build Safer Driving Habits

During the activity, Traffic Police officers provided direct information to the public about the importance of obeying traffic regulations. Residents were encouraged to always prioritize safety, drive responsibly, avoid dangerous behavior on the road, wear standard SNI helmets, carry complete vehicle documents such as a driving license (SIM) and vehicle registration certificate (STNK), and comply with all traffic signs.

In addition to providing knowledge about traffic regulations, officers also encouraged the public to develop mutual respect among all road users. This attitude is an important element in creating safety, order, and smooth traffic flow (Kamseltibcar Lantas).

Police Strengthen Their Role as Community Partners

The Head of Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through the Head of Traffic Unit (Kasat Lantas), AKP Yustina, S.H., M.H., stated on Thursday, July 30, 2026, that road safety is a shared responsibility requiring active participation from all elements of society.

According to her, the role of the police in the community is not limited to law enforcement against traffic violations but also includes acting as a partner who provides understanding and strengthens public awareness of discipline on the road.

"Through the Polantas Menyapa program, we want to be closer to the community. We do not only carry out legal enforcement but also provide education so that a culture of traffic safety can grow from individual awareness. Safety is a shared necessity because everyone who leaves their home wants to return safely to their family," said AKP Yustina.

She explained that a persuasive approach through direct communication with the public is an effective method for developing more disciplined driving behavior. People need to understand that wearing helmets, carrying driving licenses and vehicle registration documents, and obeying traffic signs are not merely obligations but forms of protection for themselves and other road users.

Encouraging a Sustainable Traffic Safety Culture

The Polantas Menyapa program is one of the preventive strategies continuously developed by the Labuhanbatu Selatan Traffic Police. Through direct communication, officers seek to deliver safety messages in a way that is easier for the public to understand and apply in daily activities.

The increasing mobility along the Trans-Sumatra route makes traffic safety education increasingly important. Many traffic violations occur due to a lack of awareness among drivers in implementing safe driving practices.

Through information campaigns, dialogue sessions, and a community-oriented service approach, the police hope to further strengthen the relationship between law enforcement officers and residents in creating safe and comfortable traffic conditions.

Throughout the activity, favorable weather conditions supported the implementation of the safety campaign, allowing all activities to proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly. Traffic Police officers delivered various safety messages to public transportation drivers and other road users passing through the Jalinsum Bloksongo area.

Labusel Traffic Police Continues Traffic Safety Campaign

The Labuhanbatu Selatan Traffic Police hopes that the Polantas Menyapa program will continue to increase public awareness regarding compliance with traffic regulations. With improved discipline among road users, traffic violations and accidents are expected to decrease.

The police aim to create safer, more comfortable, orderly, and traffic-friendly roads for all residents in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. Road safety is not only the responsibility of the police but a shared duty of every road user. (IDNC)
