LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Torgamba Police have taken a humanitarian approach by reaching out directly to elderly residents and providing assistance to those in need. A total of five residents of Dusun Sumber Sari II, Torganda Village, Torgamba District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, received social assistance in the form of basic food supplies on Friday, August 14, 2026.
Torgamba Police distributed the aid at the Torganda Village Office. The initiative was part of the police's efforts to strengthen ties with the community while demonstrating care and concern for residents who require assistance. Officers handed over packages containing rice, cooking oil, bread, and sugar.The social assistance initiative demonstrated that the police's responsibilities extend beyond maintaining security and public order. Through their presence in the daily lives of residents, police officers can also show compassion, empathy, and concern for members of the community who need support.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, S.H., said that the public should be able to feel the presence of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in a tangible way in various circumstances.
"Polri must always be present and close to the people. This assistance may be simple, but we hope it will bring benefits and happiness to the recipients. What matters is building a sense of care and a humane relationship between the police and the community," AKP Sunipan said.The five recipients of the social assistance were Riyanto, 55; Lisbet Simangunsong, 61; Umi Atun, 58; Satiem; and Siti Asih Sinaga, 54. All five are residents of Dusun Sumber Sari II, Torganda Village.
For the recipients, the value of the assistance extended beyond the food packages themselves. The personal presence of Torgamba Police officers also conveyed a message that residents continue to receive attention and concern from those around them.Torgamba Police officers personally handed the aid packages to the residents.
