LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Torgamba Police have reaffirmed their commitment to combating drug abuse and the illegal trafficking of narcotics, including in residential areas. After receiving information from residents about suspected drug abuse in Sumber Sari Hamlet, Torganda Village, Torgamba District, South Labuhanbatu Regency, officers once again carried out a raid on Thursday evening, August 13, 2026, as part of the "Gerebek Sarang Narkoba" (GSN), or Drug Nest Raid, operation.
During the search, officers found several items allegedly associated with narcotics use. The items seized included nine plastic bottles believed to have been used as makeshift bongs, 30 empty transparent plastic bags of various sizes, two lighters and three needle heads.The seized items were secured by officers for further processing and examination. After completing the on-site inspection, the officers took all of the items to the Torgamba Police Station.
After receiving the report, Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, S.H., M.H., ordered an investigation and instructed his officers to take police action in accordance with applicable regulations.
At around 7:00 p.m. local time, an operational team from the Torgamba Criminal Investigation Unit, together with on-duty officers, went to the target location. The operation was led by the head of the Torgamba Criminal Investigation Unit, IPTU Rajo Irawan Hamonangan, S.H., M.H. He was accompanied by Torganda Village Secretary Taufik.At the scene, officers inspected the location, which residents had identified as a suspected site for drug abuse. During the inspection, they found several items believed to be remnants of narcotics use.
The officers then secured all of the items and brought them to the Torgamba Police Station. The evidence was subsequently processed in accordance with established procedures.Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga stressed that his institution would give no room to anyone involved in narcotics abuse or illegal drug trafficking.
"No mercy for drugs," AKP Sunipan said emphatically.
AKP Sunipan said that combating drug-related crime requires active participation from the community. Police cannot disrupt narcotics supply and distribution networks that may extend into residential areas on their own.
The police therefore urged residents not to ignore suspicious activities. Even information that may initially appear insignificant could help officers launch an investigation into suspected drug-related offenses.Information can be reported to the Polri Call Center at 110. The service is free of charge and can be used to submit various reports concerning public safety and security, including suspected drug-related activities in residential areas.
"We urge the entire community to work together to break the chain of drug trafficking. Do not be afraid to provide information if you observe suspicious activities," the police chief appealed.In addition to taking action against suspected criminal activities, Torgamba Police officers also educated residents about the dangers of narcotics abuse. Police reminded members of the community not to allow drug-related activities to take root in their neighborhoods.
The village administration was also urged to strengthen monitoring of potential threats to public safety and security, known in Indonesian as "guankamtibmas." Joint supervision involving residents, the village administration and police is considered important to prevent new drug abuse hotspots from emerging.
The "Gerebek Sarang Narkoba" operation conducted by the Torgamba Police is part of efforts to prevent and combat narcotics abuse and illegal trafficking, known as P4GN. At the same time, the operation is part of intensified routine police activities, known as KRYD, within the jurisdiction of the South Labuhanbatu Police.
The discovery of nine suspected bongs and dozens of empty plastic bags is considered significant by police. The items underscore the need to increase vigilance against possible narcotics abuse, including in residential areas.The Torgamba Police view prevention and reports from residents as strategically important components of efforts to combat drugs. Information provided by members of the public can serve as a starting point for police investigations and enable officers to take action when suspicions of criminal activity are substantiated.
Among those involved in the operation were IPTU Rajo Irawan Hamonangan, S.H., M.H., AIPTU Hendrik Sinaga, AIPDA Idris Tanjung, BRIPTU Teopilus Gurusinga and BRIPTU Muhammad Ryan Fadillah. The operational team also worked together with Torganda Village Secretary Taufik.The operation began at 7:00 p.m. local time and continued until the completion of activities in the Torganda Village area, Torgamba District, South Labuhanbatu Regency.
The Torgamba Police reaffirmed that GSN and KRYD operations will continue to form part of the police strategy to further restrict opportunities for narcotics abuse and illegal drug trafficking within their jurisdiction.The police message is clear: The fight against drugs requires both the courage of law enforcement officers and the vigilance of the community.
